The Director, IT - SAP will be responsible for ERP (SAP) development, configuration & support for Builders FirstSource (BFS). This role executes transparent IT processes for full solution lifecycle and drives continuous improvement in solution performance, reliability, compliance, and efficiency. Proactively drives solution usage and simplification with IT business partners. Strategically develops and executes solution roadmap that aligns to business strategy and measurably drives business KPIs. Consistently develops expertise in business processes and enabling technologies. BFS has initiated a multi-year, multi-million-dollar transformation program with SAP Implementation at the core of this initiative. This role will be responsible for working with a System Integrator (SI) as well as internal teams (business & IT) to ensure the development of all business requirements as outlined in the design phase. The individual will also be responsible for driving changes on legacy platforms as well as integration platforms that assures a successful transition from legacy applications to SAP over a period without any business operations disruptions. During this transition, this role will manage multiple teams using various technical stacks and development approaches. These teams will include system architects, developer engineers, testers, and high-tier software support engineers, and this role may additionally directly supervise - or have substantial supervisory or technical input to - analysts, DBAs, system administrators, infrastructure engineers, and contractors performing a variety of functions in support of this program. An ideal candidate for this role must have demonstrated experience and success in managing the development of a large legacy system (experience with SAP S4/Hana is highly desirable) with a sizable and diverse user base, and with aggressive RPO/RTO, security, compliance, and performance requirements. After the go-live of SAP, this role will lead SAP COE for BFS, overseeing design, development, testing, integration, and implementation of future enhancements/projects as well as support the platform. The individual will be accountable for the overall health and optimization of the SAP HANA RISE environment, ensuring it meets business needs for performance, scalability, and security. This includes leading lifecycle management and collaborating with partners to implement best practices for system reliability and compliance. As a member of the Senior IT teams, this role will set the appropriate tone at the top. The position requires a leader who leads by example, is competent, confident, perseverance, inspirational, influencing, disciplined and dependable. In addition, this individual needs to be highly collaborative, a strong communicator and continuous improvement minded. The ability to deliver tactical projects while anticipating issues and thinking strategically is required. The position requires a demonstrated ability to manage a diverse portfolio of requests, quickly mediate between competing priorities, and work effectively with IT colleagues, contractors, and business management both within and across reporting relationships, lines of businesses and markets. Finally, this role is responsible for the management, development, and engagement of its people, including the hiring of staff, their instruction, coaching and evaluation. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES SAP Environment / Platform Management
Application Strategy & Application Portfolio Management Work with IT business partners as well as external partners to create and evolve the IT application strategy for SAP/ERP platform. Ensures continuous advancement of business capabilities while simplifying the landscape over time. Manage a portfolio of current, compliant, supported applications the business can rely on. Application Development "BUILD" Lead the technical design, development, configuration, testing and implementation of IT applications with main application being SAP S4/HANA through operating a metrics-based management system, ensuring utilization of solution development lifecycle management processes. Provide internal and external staffing to meet the needs of the approved project portfolio and planned application enhancements.
Application Support "RUN" Provide reliable L3 application support services for the ERP platform. Responsible for all internal and external managed service support in area of responsibility, ensuring delivery to SLAs and contract. Hold team members accountable for proper, timely support of systems and restoration of service. Lead root cause analysis of failures and ensure implementation of permanent corrective actions. Track and report out on application support metrics and key outages.
Team Management Responsible for the hiring and professional development of staff. Selects, develops, coaches, and reviews associates/employees and contingent workers. Conducts interviews, individual performance and development planning performance reviews, other supervisory interactions and proposes salary increases. Strategy Development
