About this Strategy & Activation Role

This role necessitates a strategic alliance with Business Product Owners to spearhead the activation of diverse, cross-functional initiatives. The incumbent will be instrumental in driving the successful execution of the highest priority CMG initiatives by formulating detailed project plans, conducting meticulous risk assessments, monitoring performance metrics, and ensuring punctual completion. The cultivation of robust and synergistic relationships with key stakeholders within a complex, matrixed organizational framework will be pivotal in facilitating seamless coordination and achieving optimal outcomes. Furthermore, the role entails providing mentorship and guidance to junior team members, as well as effectively managing Roche Shared Services (RSS) PMO support for relevant initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Function as a trusted strategic advisor to Business Product Owners (BPOs) for a diverse array of initiatives, skillfully synthesizing information and identifying synergistic relationships across interconnected, parallel cross-functional projects.

  • Assume comprehensive responsibility for the stewardship and operational vitality of strategic initiatives, through meticulous progress tracking, proactive risk assessment, decisive issue escalation, and the unwavering pursuit of timely execution

  • Provide expert counsel on and actively contribute to the formulation of robust and detailed project plans tailored to the specific requirements of each initiative.

  • Orchestrate and spearhead the activation phase of designated initiatives, fostering seamless collaboration and alignment amongst a diverse cohort of key stakeholders, including Business Owners, Activation Teams, and Build Teams.

  • Design, enhance, and operationalize sophisticated orchestration and governance frameworks to maximize execution efficiency and drive a culture of relentless continuous improvement.

  • Expertly navigate a multifaceted, matrixed organizational environment by cultivating and nurturing enduring relationships with key CMG stakeholders, thereby ensuring seamless and harmonious cross-functional coordination.

  • Exercise independent judgment and initiative in making critical decisions and taking decisive action, all while maintaining strict alignment with initiative priorities, CMG Strategic Imperatives, and overarching business objectives.

  • Rigorously monitor and analyze pivotal performance indicators, leveraging data-driven insights to assess impact and recommend strategic adjustments and corrective actions.

  • Provide mentorship and developmental guidance to junior team members, actively fostering a strong sense of belonging and collaborative spirit both within and across departmental boundaries.

  • Strategically manage and oversee Roche Shared Services (RSS) PMO support for all pertinent initiatives, ensuring efficient resource allocation and effective project management.

Minimum Candidate Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Strategy, Operations, or a related field

  • +10 years of experience in strategic initiative execution, transformation programs, or business operations within a complex, matrixed environment

  • Extensive project management and change management skills, with proven experience in handling multiple initiatives at once and delivering outcomes on time and within budget

  • Strong critical thinking, attention to detail, and comfort with unstructured problem-solving

  • Demonstrated ability to track initiative health, manage risks, and escalate challenges for resolution in a structured manner

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence senior leaders and guide cross-functional teams

Additional Desired Candidate Qualifications & Experience

  • MBA or other related graduate level degree preferred

  • Experience in the managed care, Pharmaceutical, Biotech, or similar regulated industries

  • Background in management consulting or similar field

  • Experience in leading experimentation, agile methodologies, and innovation-driven transformation

  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, Agile, or similar operational methodologies to improve initiative execution and efficiency

  • Strong understanding of business intelligence tools, reporting platforms, and data visualization techniques to enhance initiative tracking

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $160,700 - $298,400. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
