What You Will Do:

As GFT continues to grow and expand, we are seeking an emerging Bridge Engineer to support our team in our Mechanicsburg, PA office. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring a minimum 3 days of onsite office attendance.

What you'll be challenged to do:

As a Bridge Engineer, you will assist engineers in bridge calculations, designs, modeling, quantity take offs, and plan preparation. This position offers the ideal environment to engage in meaningful mentorship and professional development, build foundational skills, and explore career pathways as you grow within the industry.

In the capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Provide 3D modelling, design, and drafting support for transportation structures such as bridges, culverts, retaining walls, utility vaults, noise abatement walls, sign structures, ITS structures, etc.
  • Perform quantity calculations and develop cost estimates.
  • Assist in the development of construction contract documents and review construction documents such as shop and working drawings.
  • Coordinate work activities with other disciplines.
  • Review inspection reports and perform bridge load ratings.
Education | Experience:

What you will bring to our firm:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structures.
  • 0-3 years of experience in bridge design and/or detailing.
  • Familiarity with plan development with CADD (MicroStation and/or AutoCAD).
  • Knowledge of geometry, design manuals, and design guidelines.
  • Expertise with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently and produce quality work as part of a design team.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

What we prefer you bring:

  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification.
  • Prior experience with structural design software such as: Openbridge, CSIBridge, or STAAD.
  • Familiarity with AASHTO Bridge Design Standards.

Compensation:

The range for this position is salary range is $70,000-$85,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
