The Metrology Supervisor will oversee the calibration and maintenance of measurement instruments and equipment used in manufacturing or laboratory settings. Their responsibilities include managing a team of technicians, ensuring all equipment meets quality standards, scheduling regular calibrations, maintaining documentation, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. They also troubleshoot issues, provide technical guidance, and may collaborate with other departments to support production and quality assurance processes. This role requires strong technical knowledge in metrology, leadership skills, and attention to detail.

What will you be doing?

  • Supervise Calibration Activities: Oversee the calibration of measurement instruments to ensure accuracy and reliability in manufacturing or laboratory processes.

  • Manage a Team: Lead and manage a team of metrology technicians, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.

  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure that all calibration processes comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.

  • Maintain Equipment: Coordinate the maintenance, repair, and replacement of metrology equipment to minimize downtime and ensure operational efficiency.

  • Develop and Implement Procedures: Create and enforce calibration and maintenance procedures to ensure consistent and accurate measurements.

  • Document Management: Maintain detailed records of calibration activities, including certificates, logs, and maintenance reports, ensuring traceability and accuracy.

  • Troubleshoot Issues: Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to measurement instruments and metrology processes.

  • Support Quality Assurance: Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure measurement accuracy supports product quality and compliance.

  • Schedule Calibration: Plan and schedule regular calibration activities to prevent measurement drift and ensure continuous process reliability.

  • Budget Management: Oversee the metrology department's budget, including managing costs related to equipment, calibration services, and staffing.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and reliability of metrology activities.

  • Safety Compliance: Ensure that all metrology activities are conducted following safety protocols and guidelines.

What will you need to be successful?

  • Education:

    • Minimum of an Associate's degree in a technical field preferred.

    • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • License/certification:

    • ASQ CQT, CQE preferred.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a metrology / calibration or engineering role preferred.

    • Experience in a supervisory or team leader role preferred.

  • Requires well-developed written, oral, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Team player, maturity, excellent judgment.

  • Travel Requirements: 5%
