Summary of Job Duties:An exciting opportunity is available in the laboratory of Dr. Amanda Stolarz for a Research Assistant to support innovative biomedical research focused on developing novel therapeutics for vascular and lymphatic diseases and mitigating the side effects of cancer therapies. This role includes both hands-on laboratory work and general lab maintenance responsibilities and is governed by state and federal regulations as well as institutional policies. Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Sciences or relate field PLUS three (3) years experience in a professional lab research setting.

Knowledge, Skills & Activities:

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and documentation skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic research environment.

Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in surgical procedures and provide pre- and post-operative care of laboratory rodents.

  • Perform functional measurements of ion channels and mitochondria in isolated cells and vessels.

  • Conduct molecular biology assays, including RNA and protein isolation, qPCR, ddPCR, capillary western blotting, and flow cytometry.

  • Execute viral transfection and gene editing techniques (adenoviral/lentiviral systems).

  • Maintain and culture cells and tissue, including preparation and harvesting .

  • Collect, process, and analyze experimental data.

  • Perform general lab maintenance, including cleaning glassware, preparing media and solutions, checking eyewash stations, and filing MSDS sheets .

  • Maintain laboratory inventory and assist the PI with ordering supplies.

  • Assist the PI with maintaining lab protocols and certifications .

  • Help train and supervise students working in the laboratory as needed.
