The pay rate is $23.00/hour for new class scribes and $25.00/hour for rehired scribes. These roles are part-time, temporary positions during the times classes are in session during the academic year August through May, with up to 25 hours per week based on course schedules and individual availability. Courses typically run Monday through Thursday, with occasional sessions on Fridays. Some classes may also require late afternoon or evening work. We are seeking candidates interested in working through the full academic year.
Position Purpose
Records student attendance in MBA classes and transcribes student participation and other assigned class activities according to faculty specifications and Tuck's academic priorities.
Required Qualifications

  • Skill in recording accurately, clearly, and quickly observations of class participation in real time, preferably using a computer (not handwritten) and with minimal time required for proofreading or rewrites. Skill in using software like Microsoft Excel for tracking class attendance.
  • Familiarity with the typical activities that occur in higher education classes, preferably through having completed an undergraduate or graduate degree in a residential campus environment.
  • Able to maintain near perfect attendance and punctuality according to assigned schedule.
  • Able to support, contribute to, and strengthen a vibrant, culturally diverse, and inclusive learning community of students, faculty, and fellow professionals.
  • Able to anticipate, deliver on, and exceed the expectations of faculty and students.

Schedule
The schedule follows the academic calendar: August-December and January-May. 12-25 hours per week, depending upon course schedules and availability. Some classes may require late afternoon and evening work.

Key Accountabilities

  • Attends assigned MBA classes, records student attendance, transcribes student participation, and notes other class activities as directed by the program manager and faculty. May also provide light in-class logistical support (e.g., picking up and delivering handouts to class, clearing boards between class sessions, etc.). (90%)
  • Prepares, formats, and delivers attendance records and transcriptions within required timeframes. (10%)
