Position Overview:

The Senior Business Director in Contract Sales is a pivotal leadership role overseeing client programs and shaping the strategic direction of commercial initiatives. This role manages second-line and first-line leaders to ensure alignment with client objectives and fosters a strong, collaborative client partnership to ensure exceptional delivery and optimal sales performance. Additionally, the Senior Business Director supports the Business Development team in securing new opportunities and expanding or renewing existing accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement commercial strategies that align with both the client's goals and the company's objectives. Ensure that all initiatives are designed to meet annual budget goals and drive growth.
  • Client Partnership: Collaborate with the client to define and execute strategic vision, ensuring that all activities are tailored to their needs and objectives.
  • Program Oversight: Strategically oversee and drive the performance metrics and activities. Continuously evaluate progress and adjust strategic initiatives as necessary to ensure alignment with long-term goals and overall success.
  • Team Leadership: Provide oversight and direction for commercial leadership sales teams. Drives performance by motivating and guiding leaders to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Business Growth & Development: Drive program growth and expansion within existing programs and work with Business Development team to develop effective proposals and pricing strategies to win new business
  • Financial Oversight: Develop profit for the company and provide financial and revenue support to programs.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with key internal stakeholders, including Finance, Compliance, Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, Operations, Technology, and the Senior Leadership team, to ensure cohesive execution of strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college is required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8+ years in senior leadership roles with substantial experience in commercial solutions, pharmaceutical sales leadership, business development, or related fields.
  • Second-line pharmaceutical leadership and product launch experience required.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing high-level strategies that drive business growth, secure new opportunities, and expand existing accounts.
  • Experience working with executive leadership to drive strategic initiatives; managing CSO client programs is a plus.
  • Demonstrated success in recruiting, hiring, and managing high-performing teams for both individual and management roles.
  • Experience developing and delivering business plans to customers, senior leadership, and direct reports.
  • Strong computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint) and virtual meeting platforms (Teams, Zoom).
  • Ability to travel for work-related meetings and functions, including overnight and/or weekend trips.
  • Residence near a major airport in the Eastern or Central time zone preferred.

  • Proven ability to develop and expand relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Strong analytical thinking, process facilitation, and problem-solving abilities to make sound business decisions.
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail and disciplined execution.
  • Ability to identify critical activities, adjust priorities, and meet organizational goals and objectives.
