Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Editorial/Media Specialist/Photo for University Communications and Marketing (
UCM).
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Maintains the integrity of UCM's digital assets, including photos, videos, and social media content.
- Develops criteria, systems, records, and reports for UCM assets and determines what assets are loaded into the digital assessment management system (DAM), stored elsewhere, and archived.
- Develops processes for managing all assets and storage processes.
- Ensures the DAM system is a well-ordered, user-friendly, and brand-centric tool for the university community.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree in communication, humanities, information science, library science, photography, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Two (2) years of experience working with a digital asset management system or a digital archiving system with photography and video data.

Certifications/Licenses |
- A valid driver's license would be required for this position; Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Experience downloading and editing photographs and video.
- Demonstrable knowledge of digital asset formats, metadata application, taxonomy, naming conventions, and file sizes.
- Must have successfully managed large data files.
- Knowledge of rights management and usage.
- Skilled in database management and data storage methods.
- Must be a good researcher, problem-solver, and value collaboration.
- Must be able to independently develop and implement training sessions for employees and prepare clear and accurate training documentation.
- Must be customer-service focused, willing to share knowledge, and lend assistance wherever needed.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree; digital asset management certificate; photography skills and experience using a photo management program.
- Image and video editing skills.

Equipment Utilized |
- Position will be working in an environment that uses both PCs and Macs; Microsoft 365, Merlin One digital asset management software, Asana project management software.
- Experience using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere, Bridge, Lightroom, Acrobat), and Photo Mechanic.
- Knowledge of photography techniques and experience using digital cameras.
- Knowledge and experience using video editing software.

Physical Demands and Work Environment |
- Must be able to assist with photo shoots, which requires unimpeded mobility and the ability to lift 20 lbs.
