Job Summary:



The University of Colorado School of Medicine (CUSOM) is looking for a part-time (0.4 FTE) faculty member to serve as the Assistant Dean of Admissions-an innovative and strategic leadership role.

The Assistant Dean for Admissions, reporting to the Associate Dean of Student Affairs and Admissions, provides strategic leadership and oversight of the admissions process at the University of Colorado School of Medicine (CUSOM/SOM), encompassing operational planning, faculty development, and policy compliance. This role also acts as a liaison to the campus, community, and national organizations, overseeing communication, marketing, and public relations efforts. Additionally, the position contributes to annual admissions budget planning, ensures alignment with institutional goals, and engages in continuous quality improvement processes to enhance program effectiveness and uphold accreditation standards.

Supervision Received: Reports directly to the Associate Dean of Student Affairs and Admissions.

Supervision Exercised: There is no supervision exercise but indirectly provide guidance to the Admissions Committee and its chair

Key Responsibilities:

Admissions Oversight and Leadership



  • Provides strategic oversight and leadership for the medical school admissions process, including committee guidance, student selection, and operational planning.
  • Manages admissions office functions and represents the institution in national admissions-related organizations and initiatives.


Admissions Administration



  • Provides strategic leadership and oversight for the Office of Admissions, including recruitment, interview processes, budget management, and compliance with accreditation and institutional policies.
  • Collaborates with leadership and the admissions committee to guide policy, student selection, and data-informed planning to support continuous improvement and long-term programmatic goals.


Admissions and Pathway Programs Initiatives



  • Serves as a key liaison and representative for the School of Medicine, supporting pathway programs, guaranteed admissions, community engagement, marketing, and communication with internal and external stakeholders.


Committee Leadership and Governance



  • Oversees admissions committee membership, faculty development, and staff training, while collaborating with leadership and key committees to ensure alignment of goals and resource planning.
  • Works closely with various internal teams and committees to support student promotions, scholarship distribution, and professional development initiatives.



Work Location:



Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule as needed for teaching and in-person meetings.

Qualifications:



Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

Assistant:



  • Must hold an M.D., D.O or equivalent terminal degree
  • Eligible for a faculty appointment in the CU School of Medicine at an Assistant rank
  • At least 5 years of experience in medical education or healthcare education, including curriculum development, clinical education, or program management.


Associate:



  • Must hold an M.D., D.O or equivalent terminal degree
  • Eligible for a faculty appointment in the CU School of Medicine at the Associate rank.
  • At least 5 years of experience in medical education or healthcare education, including curriculum development, clinical education, or program management.


Professor:



  • Must hold an M.D., D.O or equivalent terminal degree
  • Eligible for a faculty appointment in the CU School of Medicine at the Professor rank.
  • At least 5 years of experience in medical education or healthcare education, including curriculum development, clinical education, or program management.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Prior experience managing all components of the medical school application process, including the MCAT, AMCAS, criminal background checks, and bundled letters of reference.
  • Familiarity with the University of Colorado School of Medicine (CUSOM) and its curriculum including branch campus, criteria for student promotions, professionalism, and the multiple pathway programs (e.g. Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP), BA/BS-MD, MD/MPH).
  • Experience engaging with faculty and students in higher education or healthcare settings.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including strategic planning, and cross-level collaboration.
  • Background in developing and executing strategic initiatives.
  • Established experience collaborating with community organizations and healthcare institutions.

Anticipated Pay Range:



The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Assistant Professor: $50,000 - $100,000, representing an estimated 0.4 FTE salary support plus benefits. The final offer will be capped at $250,000 annually and will depend on the individual's current 1.0 FTE salary.

Associate Professor: $50,000 - $100,000, representing an estimated 0.4 FTE salary support plus benefits. The final offer will be capped at $250,000 annually and will depend on the individual's current 1.0 FTE salary.

Professor: $50,000 - $100,000, representing an estimated 0.4 FTE salary support plus benefits. The final offer will be capped at $250,000 annually and will depend on the individual's current 1.0 FTE salary.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
