CLAC) was established in 1992 to research, document, interpret and promote Latino/a, Hispanic, Caribbean, and Latin American culture and the arts. As a unit of the Division of Student Affairs, the
CLAC seeks to welcome Latinx/e students, support their cultural engagement and enhance sense of belonging, and foster their academic success to Rutgers University. The
CLAC envisions a student-centered, inclusive community where students better integrate experiential, academic and service learning to become strong leaders and responsible global citizens. |

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Senior Program Coordinator for the Center for Latino Arts and Culture (
CLAC).
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Coordinates a schedule of signature projects, programs and events designed to increase cultural engagement and sense of belonging for Latin students at Rutgers University New Brunswick.
- Works collaboratively with the Cultural Center Collaborative and various other divisional and campus units and student organizations to meet programmatic goals and objectives.
- Plays a key role in advising CLAC-affiliated student organizations, providing administrative and financial oversight of student organizations and their operations, and creating leadership development opportunities through workshop facilitation and retreats.
- Works with the Assistant Director (AD) to train and oversee student staff in support of day-to-day Center operation responsibilities.
- Implements the center's media/marketing efforts and will serve as a liaison to the university media/marketing units.
- Works on a variety of projects as assigned by the Director.
- Serves as a liaison between the Center for Latino Arts and Culture and other university departments, community members, and student organizations.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- A Bachelor's degree, preferably in arts, education, communication, student affairs, Latino and Caribbean Studies, Latin American Studies, Spanish and Portuguese or closely related field/discipline.
- Two (2) years of experience working in a comparable position with success in program development, project management, logistical management, and supervisory skills.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Strong administrative skills and the ability to work independently; multi-task, think creatively, and build collaborative relationships; and demonstrate outstanding interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Spoken and written fluency in both English and Spanish languages.
- Ability to translate documents and offer Spanish/English interpretation in public events and activities.
- Advanced knowledge of Outlook, MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft platforms.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Strong knowledge about Latino cultural history in the United States, Latin America and/or the Caribbean and understanding of current issues impacting longstanding residents and newcomer communities.
- Knowledge and effective use of social media tools is strongly preferred. Knowledge and effective use of graphic design applications such as Publisher, Canvas, Illustrator or Photoshop.
- Knowledge in web development.
- Knowledge of various on and off campus resources as points of referrals for students due to the level of contact with students who may share extensive personal information.
- Cultural competency that reflects, at minimum, an understanding of the cultural needs/issues faced by our student constituency.
- Ability to demonstrate student-centered approaches to their responsibilities.

- Position may be asked to lift boxes and packages up to 25lbs.

Special Conditions |
- Due to the nature of work of the center and student affairs in general, the Senior Program Coordinator will be required to work some weeknights and weekends as needed.
