Assistant Chief Nursing Officer

The Assistant Chief Nursing Officer act as Nurse Educator providing leadership and educational guidance to the nursing department. This role ensures efficient, productive, and cost-effective patient care while facilitating ongoing staff development. The ACNO supervises nursing operations and ensures compliance with all TJC, federal, state, and local regulations. Additionally, the Nurse Educator component focuses on training and professional development for nursing personnel, ensuring adherence to best practices and continuous quality improvement (CQI). This role maintains a professional relationship with medical staff, management, and other departments.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Licensure: Current license or permit to practice professional nursing in the state of CA.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a CCNE accredited nursing program; Master of Science in Nursing Education or Healthcare Administration is preferred.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of behavioral health nursing clinical practices and management.
  • Extensive knowledge of principles and practices relevant to nursing and patient care activities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective management and supervisory practices. Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Minimum of two years nursing experience in a psychiatric inpatient setting or five years in another clinical setting.
  • Previous experience in nursing supervision/administration is required.
  • Teaching or nurse education experience preferred.
