The Leave and Accommodations Manager serves as the organization's subject matter expert in managing workplace solutions for disability-related accommodations and medical leaves, as well as all forms of federal and state statutory leave (e.g., FMLA, ADA, state paid family leave). This role is responsible for leading the design and execution of scalable, compliant, and standardized processes that support employees, managers, and HR teams across the enterprise. This leader will drive operational consistency, identify emerging trends, and proactively recommend risk mitigation strategies. They will collaborate closely with HR Business Partners, Legal, and divisional leaders to ensure a seamless and legally sound experience for employees navigating leaves of absence and the interactive accommodation process. Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the enterprise lead for all workplace accommodations and leave management processes, including medical, disability-related, and statutory leaves
Develop, implement, and continuously improve scalable, standardized processes that ensure consistency and compliance across departments and locations Facilitate and manage the interactive process under the ADA, including gathering documentation, evaluating accommodation requests, and coordinating with relevant stakeholders Partner with HR Business Partners and managers to deliver a consistent, supportive, and legally compliant employee experience Work closely with Legal to ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, and incorporate risk mitigation strategies into policy and practice Identify leave and accommodation trends, assess organizational impact, and recommend solutions to address emerging risks or inefficiencies Provide expert guidance and training to HR teams and managers on leave and accommodation policies, procedures, and best practices Support change management and communication strategies related to leave and accommodation processes Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with legal and company standards
Qualifications
Education / Experience
- HS Diploma or GED (required) and seven (7) years progressive HR experience providing support to employees and management on disability accommodations and leaves of absence, as an accommodations specialist, analyst, or business partner (required) - or -
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, or directly related field (highly preferred) and five (5) years progressive HR experience providing support to employees and management on disability accommodations and leaves of absence, as an accommodations specialist, analyst, or business partner (preferred)
- Specific experience in education, or other highly regulated field, and multi-site, multi-state environments (preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Federal and state employment laws (especially ADAAA, FMLA, and state specific leave/disability regulations), leave management best practices, and corporate policies and procedures
- Principles and procedures for leave management, interactive processes, engagement, project management, and HR information systems
- Auditing processes and procedures
- Record keeping, versioning, document retention and other administrative processes and procedures
- CPDM and/or CLMS certification (Preferred)

- Strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities, including the evaluation of complex issues and development of sound, compliant solutions
- Experience interpreting data and case trends to inform recommendations and process changes
- Proven ability to positively influence individuals and small groups, particularly in high-stakes or emotionally charged situations
- Intermediate-level skills in presentation and training facilitation, with the ability to engage audiences and drive adoption of best practices
