Wastewater Treatment Plant Maintenance Mechanic

Flux Resources is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Plant Maintenance Mechanic for one of our clients in Happy Valley, OR. This is direct hire opportunity paying in the $80K range. This position is responsible scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of mechanical, and electrical equipment, systems, and structures of the wastewater treatment plant and pump stations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:



  • Maintenance, repair and calibration of various wastewater and conveyance equipment including but not limited to motors, pumps, valves, piping, conveyors, compactors, screens, blowers, mixers, engines, generators, clarifiers, presses, etc.
  • Develop and update schedule of inspection and maintenance.
  • Input maintenance data into the District's Asset Management System.
  • Preventative maintenance on all equipment based on manufacturer's recommendations and industry best practices.

  • Participates in the development and implementation of a maintenance, repair and replacement program.
  • Evaluates facility condition to prioritize and schedule projects; assists in defining user requirements for the design and construction of wastewater facilities.
  • Evaluates cost effectiveness of equipment replacement or repair; maintains parts and supplies inventory.
  • Install new equipment and modify/refurbish existing equipment for optimized performance.
  • Coordinate and participate with contractors in specialized maintenance work.
  • Accurately update computerized preventative and corrective maintenance records, equipment records and parts inventory logs/systems.
  • Coordinate with plant Operations staff to ensure equipment availability for maintenance and proper equipment operation.
  • Recommend and procure equipment, tools and materials.
  • Recommend preferences in design, construction and installation of new assets.
  • Plan and schedule work for increased efficiency.


Minimum Qualifications

High school education or equivalent and four (4) years of experience related to the routine maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant or related pumps, presses and equipment.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of standard practices, methods, tools and materials used in advanced industrial maintenance trades. Skill and ability to safely perform equipment repairs, perform metal fabrication and troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical and electronic problems. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Ability to interpret data from precision instruments, specialized diagnostic tools and operations databases. Knowledge and skill with computers and software used in treatment plant and office environments. Ability to understand and effectively communicate orally and in writing. Skill and ability to work from or produce sketches and simple blueprints. Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with other employees, managers and vendors. Knowledge and skills in hydraulics. Ability to work independently and with a group. Ability to read and interpret manufacturer literature, engineering analysis, technical bulletins, etc.

Position requires:



  1. Lifting/moving 50 pounds or more.
  2. Climbing, entering confined spaces, standing, balancing, stooping or kneeling.
  3. Ability to perform a confined space rescue.
