Position Summary The Associate Engineer Interiors is responsible for engineering activities to aircraft interiors and furnishings, related components, Inflight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFE&C), and exterior paint on Airbus and Embraer aircraft. The Associate Engineer will support line and heavy maintenance and modification while learning and building technical experience. Essential Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, direct and/or perform engineering assignments involving specifications for, and design changes or alterations to the aircraft interior configuration, components, IFE&C and equipment furnishings
- Review and action Airworthiness Directives to ensure compliance with applicable regulations
- Review Technical Directives such as Service Bulletins, Service Letters etc. for applicability, system reliability and/or economic benefits
- Implement design changes as required to meet airline/departmental objectives and management directives
- Demonstrate compliance with all applicable regulations for modification/repairs pertaining to area of responsibility
- Establish and maintain configuration and standard of exterior and interior graphics
- Assist in the evaluation and planning for new aircraft and equipment
- Develop engineering procedures, standards and process specifications to comply with manufacturer/vendors Service Bulletins, Airworthiness Directives and other Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements
- Develop and issues detailed work instructions and engineering drawings to accomplish alterations and repairs
- Develop customized procedures and special criteria for repairs, modifications, inspections, servicing and other maintenance actions
- Establish build specifications and administer configuration controls for interior components and equipment furnishings
- Develop and obtain regulatory approval for technical data required for modifications/repairs of equipment furnishings and components
- Provide technical assistanceand troubleshooting support to various departments in support of the day-to-day operation
- Ensure reliability performance standards are monitored and reviewed
- Conduct root cause analysis for systems and components to determine remedies for wear, malfunctions or premature removals
- Evaluate new methods, materials and equipment which may provide cost benefits and take action to incorporate justified changes
- Other duties and assignments as directed by the Manager of Engineering
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or other technical discipline; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least three (3) years of previous related work
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong analytical abilities
- Proficient with data analysis tools such as Python, Excel, and SQL
- Technical Writing - Ability to understand and generate clear and efficient work instructions
- Ability to interpret sophisticated technical engineering and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) documents
- Possess reliability analysis skills to identify root cause of systems problems
- Excellent decision making and problem-solving skills
- Able to travel and/or work variable hours, flexible shifts, including holidays and weekends
- Possess and maintain a valid Driver License and a driving record that meets JetBlue Airways' insurance standards
- Depending on location, may need to acquire and maintain a United States Customs Clearance
- Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge
- Available for occasional overnight travel (20%)
- Currently in possession of a valid passport or other valid travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test
- Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
- Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
- One (1) year of experience in aircraft interiors experience
- Valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant Certificate
- Knowledge of AutoCAD or other engineering drawings platforms
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite and Project
- Working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations governing aircraft certification and maintenance
- Airbus experience
- Able to communicate technical issues in an assertive and tactful manner
- Reliability analysis skills to identify root cause of systems problems
- Ability to manage and coordinate several tasks and projects simultaneously
- Able to interact with a wide range of customer groups both internal and external
- Project management skills
- Diversified experience on transport category aircraft with the ability to work with and understand maintenance manuals, maintenance programs, and reliability program

Compensation:
- The base pay range for this position is between $64,000.00 and $103,100.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue's total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
