Basic Function

As a member of the LyondellBasell Bayport Choate Leadership Team you will provide leadership to the hourly, salaried exempt, and salaried non-exempt employees within the Plant 3 operations department. You will supervise unit operations and will be responsible for operating Plant 3 in a safe, reliable, cost efficient, and environmentally responsible manner to achieve safety, production, quality, and budget goals. You will participate on the Bayport Choate Leadership Team to develop the site strategic plan, annual goals, drive gap closure efforts, and ensure alignment of all plant activities with global manufacturing and the company strategic plan. You will participate on corporate teams to help champion and implement corporate level strategic initiatives and goals. You will provide leadership, development, and coaching to direct reports and support staff to achieve business results, create value, and optimize the site. This position reports to the Bayport Choate Site Manager.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Delivers GoalZERO HSE performance through strong leadership, employee/contractor involvement, and management systems.
  • Inspires and coaches to optimize performance of people and processes; develops and coaches people via dialogue to continuously improve knowledge, skills, and ability; holding people accountable; developing successors and talent pools.
  • Understands the importance and the appropriate utilization of teams and teamwork in achieving business objectives; fostering teamwork and collaboration; demonstrating ability to mold and build team spirit, working relationships, and decision-making processes required in a dynamic and competitive business environment.
  • Participates, leads, and implements site, regional, and corporate initiatives in Plant 3 and across the site.
  • Responsible for implementation and adherence of corporate standards
  • Responsible for preparing and managing the Plant 3 budget in a cost efficient and responsible way that meets both budget goals and needs of the site.
  • Participates actively with the business team to create, plan, organize and execute short- and long-range objectives to ensure continued site and business alignment, efficiency, and effectiveness
  • Accountable for day-to-day execution across all areas of Plant 3
  • Benchmark and challenge the Plant 3 organization to achieve continuous improvement in all areas.
  • Leads efforts to build a strong LyondellBasell brand through community service.

Min. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 8 to 10 years' experience in progressively more responsible positions in petrochemical or refining process operations or in lieu of degree, 15 years' experience.
  • Previous people leader and/or management experience is required.
  • Strong people and organizational leadership acumen demonstrated through previous experience within manufacturing and across the organization.
  • Knowledge of and experience with HSE, operating, maintenance, and engineering processes and procedures, business fundamentals, and shared services role in manufacturing
  • Demonstrated leadership ability through prior experience in management assignments and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to interface with all organizational levels within the company.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or a related technical field, preferred.
