Overview

The Luau Show Stage Manager will work under the direction of the Director of Luau Operations and will be responsible for hiring, coordinating, coaching, counseling, supervising and directing the Luau Show staff. The Luau Show Stage Manager will work in conjunction with the F&B Luau Managers to oversee and manage all the daily operations of the Luau Show. An integral part of their responsibility is maintaining the performance standards as directed by the Director of Luau Operations to maintain the quality of the Luau Show.

The Luau Show Stage Manager is responsible to perpetuate the art and the Hawaiian/Polynesian culture, songs and dances. This person will also be responsible for sharing, teaching and showing the "Aloha Spirit and provide the highest level of service to our guests.



Responsibilities

These duties include but are not limited to the following

    Must work closely and assist the Director of Luau Operations, F&B Luau Manager, Light & Sound Manager/Technician, all Luau Show performers and musicians at all times.
  • Must oversee and manage all aspects of the daily operations of the Luau Show.
  • Responsible to conduct pre-shift and post shift meetings with Luau Show staff.
  • Responsible to take nightly show notes and report any discrepancies in the Luau Show to the Director of Luau Operations to take action for immediate and future improvements.
  • Responsible for hiring, managing, supervising, training all personnel for the Luau Show.
  • Responsible to coach, counsel and administer disciplinary actions as necessary.
  • Responsible for scheduling the work schedules for all Luau Show personnel; i.e., including but not limited to Emcees, Musicians, Luau Line Captains, Luau Dancers, Fire Knife Dancers and Light/Sound, etc.
  • Responsible for managing the Time and Attendance for the Luau Show personnel in Dayforce efficiently and accurately in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for managing, scheduling, training and participating in all rehearsals to accurately and efficiently prepare for successful performances for the entire Luau Show production.
  • Responsible to prepare for and participate in the auditions for the Luau Show production.
  • Responsible for the execution of all the components in the production of the Luau Show.
  • Must coordinate with the Luau Show Line Captains to assign all pre-shift and post shift duties, before, during and after each shift.
  • Responsible to coordinate the weekly washing for the Luau Show costumes.
  • Must work with the Director of Luau Operations, F&B Luau Manager and other F&B Managers to keep them fully informed of any problems or issues with the Luau Show production that requires his/her attention as they arise.
  • Responsible for keeping track of inventory records including but limited to costumes and equipment and timely ordering of needed supplies to prevent outages.
  • Responsible for coordinating and monitoring all phases of Loss Prevention in the Luau Show production.
  • Responsible to ensure all costumes and Luau Show equipment are kept in good condition.
  • Responsible to report any issues with the costumes and Luau show equipment to the Director of Luau Operations.
  • Responsible to prepare and submit any required reports in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for tracking expenses for the Luau show to stay in compliance with the allocated budgets.
  • Must approach all guest situations with a guest first mindset.
  • Responsible to respond and resolve guest complaints in a timely manner.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with all local liquor laws, and health and sanitation regulations.
  • Responsible to ensure Luau Show staff is in compliance with hotel rules and regulations.
  • Responsible to ensure the Luau Show staff is in compliance with the hotel requisition procedures.
  • Must be present at the Luau during the show and assist the Luau Show staff as needed during each show.
  • Responsible for training the Luau Show staff on SOP's and job tasks.
  • Must be involved in and/or conduct Luau Show production meetings.
  • Must attend and participate in all department and company required meeting/training.
  • Must understand, implement and monitor guest service levels and ensure excellent overall guest satisfaction are met for the Luau
  • Must perform other duties as assigned/required by supervisor/management.


Qualifications

Essential Job Requirements
  • Proven experience as a manager/supervisor in a show production role.
  • Proven experience in a show production role or equivalent.
  • Must possess extensive knowledge of the Hawaiian/Polynesian dance and songs.
  • Must possess high level of dance skills to perform the dance numbers in the Luau Show as needed.
  • Must be able to work in conjunction with the Director of Luau Operations, F&B Luau Manager/Supervisor and Luau Show staff.
  • Must be able to interact with fellow co-workers, managers/supervisors, guests and others with respect and honesty.
  • Must be able to work cohesively with fellow co-workers and managers/supervisors as part of a team.
  • Must be able to plan, coordinate and execute all the rehearsals, auditions, and trainings for the Luau show.
  • Must be able to lead, coach, counsel, and train in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Must be able to read and write in the English language.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all levels of management, employees, guests and others in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
  • Must be able to approach all encounters with management, employees, guests, and others in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by management, employees, guests and others.
  • Must have excellent decision-making skills and be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of computer programs including,

MS Office/Word/Excel, etc.

  • Must be detail oriented and able to perform job functions with accuracy.
  • Must be able to maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.
  • Must be able to understand and evaluate complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize duties and functions according to the Luau Show's needs to meet deadlines.
  • Must be available to work any and all shifts including but not limited to evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be available for flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the Luau Show.
  • Must have the ability to learn and perform a variety of positions for the Luau Show as needed.
  • Must be flexible and able to adjust to position changes nightly according to the Luau show needs.
  • Must comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Must comply with all departmental and company policies.
  • Must be able to maintain confidential information.
  • Must perform other duties as directed/assigned by Management.

General Job Requirements:

  • Must maintain a nice, kind, warm and friendly demeanor and be an Ambassador of Aloha Spirit at all times.
  • Must be able to show up to work on time, at the start of your scheduled shift and ready to work, fully dressed (including hair and makeup, if applicable) in accordance to the Luau show's standards.
  • Must possess extensive knowledge of the Hawaiian/Polynesian culture, dance and songs.
  • Must possess high level of dance skills to perform the dance numbers in the show as needed.
  • Must be able to give directions and give critiques and adjust as necessary.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to learn quickly
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
  • Must possess high level of technical proficiency, physical ability and fitness.
  • Must maintain personal hygiene, appearance and grooming according to the Highgate standards.
  • Must maintain the physical appearance including hair color/style as follows:
    • No visible tan lines anywhere on the body.
    • No radical hair style/colors must look natural.
    • Length of hair must be below the back strap of the bra when braided (female).
    • Nail polish must be clear or natural color.
    • Must be clean shaven and no facial hair (male).
    • Must be able to fit into the costumes as provided.
  • Must perform other duties as directed/assigned by supervisor/management.
