Job Description

Apply excellent functional knowledge of process improvement methodology and practice to lead and facilitate Continuous Improvement activities in the location targeted at cost reduction, productivity and process optimization, and/or quality performance achievement. Evaluate process improvement opportunities, define process metrics, and develop improvement plans. Ensures conformance to internal and external quality standards and assists the customer, suppliers and personnel with establishing achievable quality standards. Communicates customer expectations to staff, manufacturing personnel and suppliers. Provides oversight of the facilities EHS programs and performance efforts. Ensures EHS management systems at facility are consistent with RR Donnelley EHS strategies. Promotes the maintenance of safe and healthy working conditions and recommends measures to reduce or eliminate industrial incidents/health hazards and impact to the environment. Works with multiple internal and external teams to ensure sustainable compliance with EHS requirements. Coordinate with other departments to identify and prioritize process improvements to achieve operational excellence.

Work is typically performed under no supervision, with only guidance about overall goals and objectives. Usually receive minimal to no guidance about how to complete work objectives. Must be able to define work based on evaluation of short term and long term goals of the department. Able to independently evaluate processes, identify areas of improvement, and incorporate in to overall work objectives.

  • Gathers, analyzes and interprets data. Analyzes trends or variations in order to define problems.
  • Prepares reports, charts, tables and other visual aids to summarize operations and highlight findings.
  • Review for accuracy to Standards and process document changes, additions and deletions according to Document and Data Control Standard Practice.
  • Ensure conformance with overall company standards relating to documentation and record systems.
  • Works with site leadership to develop procedures and techniques for reducing process variation and manufacturing delays
  • Identify current procedural documents, obsolete documentation and practices not documented. Assign re-write to documents as appropriate.
  • In applicable locations, maintain all documentation needed to satisfy ISO standards, cGMP and SOC2+ requirements, including quality records, training records, non-conformance/corrective action records and internal audit records.
  • Monitor compliance to Non-conformance and Corrective Action Standard Practice to ensure effectiveness of process.
  • Planning and preparing quality, procedural and process training by coordinating or performing training with appropriate parties.
  • Creation of presentations and training sessions for continuous improvement.
  • Participates in and leads improvement projects as required.
  • Provides ongoing leadership, support, & coordination to facility personnel assigned as program owners to ensure proper implementation and maintenance of their assigned EHS programs.
  • Serves as an EHS Program Champion with responsibility for implementing and sustaining assigned EHS programs (If applicable - see EHS Program Champion Job Description)
  • Works closely with plant management, and Regional EHS Manager to establish, maintain and improve the facility's EHS programs.
  • Leads and/or participates in EHS improvement efforts, including:
    • Incident investigations
    • EHS Focus Groups (Safety Committees, Tool-Box Talks, Assessments, Equipment modification reviews, Equipment Inspections, etc.)
    • Injury Reduction Programs
    • Change Management (manufacturing process, chemical use, building design, etc)
  • Identification, development, and implementation of proactive programs designed to reduce injuries and illnesses.
  • Ensures completion of required employee environmental, safety and health training.
  • Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in discipline related to functional work or role with 5-7 years of relevant work experience OR demonstrated ability to meet the job requirements through a comparable number of years of applicable work experience.
  • Able to apply broad work experience and knowledge when analyzing complex problems. Must be able consistently identify critical elements, variables and alternatives to develop solutions. Must be able to organize/prioritize existing resources and incorporate new information, as needed, to implement the most effective solutions. Able to communicate clearly and courteously with those who need to know of decisions/actions/problems. Able to apply excellent business acumen and collaborative skills when resolving problems.
  • Able to apply excellent functional computer knowledge in utilizing Microsoft Windows, MAC, or other technical tools in completing assignments. Able to apply expertise in all the tools or applications used to complete work assignments. Able to mentor junior level team members in the use of tools and/or systems in the position.
  • Requires excellent communication skills with ability to state messages in a clear manner by using language that is easy for others to understand. Able to explain programs policies and procedures in language that is understood by others.
  • Must be able to modify communication style both formal and informal to match the appropriate level of the audience targeted. Requires strong understanding of the impact of a message on the organization or customer. Able to write with the clarity and precision necessary for the work being performed.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills and ability to work effectively across all employee levels. Demonstrated leadership, facilitation, coaching and organization skills.
  • Knowledge of document control procedures (RRD Compliance Management Training preferred).
  • Prior printing industry experience strongly preferred.

Additional Information

RRD's current salary range for this role is $72,700 to $114,800/ year. The salary range may be adjusted based on the applicable geographic location of the hired employee, and the range may change in the future.At RRD, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions may vary based upon, but not limited to education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location. Depending on the role, in addition to base salary, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program. RRD's benefit offerings include medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, disability insurance, 401(k) with company match, life insurance and other voluntary supplemental insurance coverages, plus parental leave, adoption assistance, tuition assistance and employer/partner discounts.
