Lab Technician - Microbiology

Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Support natural microbial solutions for the animal productivity product lines for the Arm and Hammer Animal and Food Production business
  • Conduct microbial and molecular analysis of environmental and animal samples from customers following established SOPs under supervision.
  • Input and update information in databases and spreadsheets and analyze data and assist in report generation following established SOPs under supervision.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance of equipment.
  • Maintain laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies
  • Assist in communicating results to the sales and technical teams.
  • Assist in implementing new analysis methods to improve the customer support platform to determine customized product formulations.
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize information for research reports, technical bulletins and presentations at customer meetings and scientific conferences
  • Limited knowledge of livestock production required

Education and Experience

  • B.Sc. Degree and up to 2 years of laboratory experience

Skills and Competencies

  • Computer literate and knowledgeable and proficient in MS office
  • Demonstrated organizational and work planning skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Hands on laboratory skills needed including general microbiology and molecular biology techniques.
  • Ability to manage large workloads at times and to adapt to reprioritization as necessary in a rapidly changing environment.

General Laboratory Requirements

  • Adhere to and follow established procedures and policies for working in the laboratory designated for the development of regulated products
  • Maintain a log of all samples, isolates and experimental results in a laboratory notebook or other data capture software system.
  • Computer literate and knowledgeable and proficient in MS office
