This Position reports to:

Analytical R&D Manager

In this role, you will will support the development of projects and identify the budget for a specific functional area. The R&D Team Manager plays an important role, driving and fostering a culture of innovation within the department while assisting the R&D Manager to plan and manage R&D activities and resources.

Reporting to the R&D Analytical Technology Manager, you will be in charge of R&D Engineers in order to meet the requirements of product development projects.

The work model for the role is: Hybrid

This role is contributing to the Process Automation Measurement & Analytics division.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Team leadership: Leads and manages complex projects and coordinates work of multi-location and cross functional team/s. Motivates and monitors internal and/or external resources to accomplish all tasks and milestones

  • Mentoring and coaching: Coaches and mentors R&D (Research and Development) team members and supports professional development and talent pipeline.

  • Ensures projects follow sound methodology and execution practices in accordance with standard ABB internal procedures as well as external standards that influence activities and targets.

  • Cross collaboration with other ABB R&D sites and platforms available to support the NPI development Coordinates activities with product and R&D tech manager to align on goals and priorities with taking ownership of the deliveries.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of knowledge of managing embedded development teams, good understanding of software development models, cyber security.

  • Experience taking embedded products from concept through to production

  • Experience planning and coordinating projects with cross functional teams

  • Experience managing external & offshore contractors

  • Experience working with multiple releases & projects for multiple products and in coordination & collaboration with Other Program Managers

  • Good knowledge of Business Gate Model and Quality Processes

  • Oil and Gas industry experience a plus

  • Sound knowledge of Waterfall, Agile methodologies, certifications in Scrum is preferred.

  • Familiar with ISO development processes/procedures desired

  • Familiar with the development activities/processes required by the software/hardware discipline

  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US

  • A solution-focused approach and strong written and spoken communication skills. Proficiency in English is required

  • A bachelor's degree and/or Master's degree in Software or Computer Engineering or information systems
