The Director, Tax will oversee and help establish global tax strategies, including transfer pricing, cross border transactions, and managing international tax compliance.

How You'll Help Our Team Succeed:

  • Manages the preparation and filing of federal, state, foreign and local tax returns, estimates, and extensions.

  • Reviews the Firm's accounting income tax provision and related financial statement disclosures.

  • Coordinates financial statement and tax jurisdiction audits.

  • Manages the relationship with external tax services providers.

  • Coordinates the exchange of information and data, including proper compliance with applicable tax sharing agreements.

  • Develops and implements tax planning strategies to minimize tax payments and ensure recognition of all available deductions.

  • Directs research and strategic planning efforts related to tax issues; provides tax planning advice related to contract terms and/or conditions to mitigate adverse tax consequences in connection with future activities.

  • Works with internal corporate groups (accounting, IT, and legal) to ensure tax structures are properly established and maintained.

  • Monitors the Firm's transfer pricing policies and related documentation, including coordination of annual transfer pricing studies.

  • Researches new and proposed legislative changes that may impact the Firm's tax positions both foreign and domestic.

  • Prepares and presents regularly to executive management and the Audit Committee on tax matters.

  • Maintains complete and up-to-date policies and procedures governing the tax function.

  • Implements, documents, and maintains appropriate internal controls over the tax function.

  • Researches tax issues related to acquisitions, restructuring, and/or tax advantageous structures.

What You'll Need to Be Successful:

  • Strategic 15+ years in global taxation, including progressively responsible roles in a multinational corporation or tax consulting firm
  • Strong US technical knowledge of corporate income tax and indirect tax principles for both C and S Corps
  • Knowledge of international tax laws, regulations, and treaties
  • Ability to identify tax issues, opportunities, and upcoming tax legislation to ensure our business strategy can be achieved
  • Ability to convey complex tax concepts to leadership in various functional areas
  • Ability to display strong ethical values and commitment to compliance and integrity
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively in a consensus-driven organization and to create consensus-based support for strategies and processes.
  • Superior communications skills and the ability to interact credibly and diplomatically with all levels in an organization - tailoring communications effectively for different groups and stakeholders.
  • A highly organized, self-directed approach to work, with a strong track record of managing and executing multiple projects simultaneously, on time and within budget.
  • Experience with domestic and international multi-office locations.
  • An undergraduate degree in Taxation, Finance, or Accounting or a related field is required; advanced degree with a concentration in a talent-related discipline preferred.
  • Professional certification or credential required.

Cornerstone Research is offering a competitive market base salary for this position. The base salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position in all eligible locations. This range may differ based on your geographic location and cost of living considerations. At Cornerstone Research, we believe compensation is more than just a base salary. We offer a competitive total compensation package that includes an annual performance bonus and comprehensive benefits such as flexible options for healthcare, paid time off, and retirement savings.

Washington, D.C.: $201,600 - $253,200

New York, NY: $208,600 - $262,100
