Job Description

Position Summary:

Rockwell Automation is looking for an accomplished and experienced senior IT leader for our Data Center and Physical Environments. You will report to the Director of IT Platform Engineering in a critical leadership role, overseeing our data centers, colocations, server rooms, and Intermediate Distribution Frames (IDFs). This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation and security of our IT infrastructure. You will have a broad technical background in IT infrastructure systems. applications and data center management and proven abilities to manage and develop a high-performing team. Additionally, you will contribute to the global application hosting strategy, working collaboratively with our Global Hosting, Cloud and Network organizations.

Important Outcomes:

  • Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership to the Rockwell Data Center and Physical Environment engineering team, under the Platform Engineering Department
  • Technical Direction: Oversee the management and operation of multiple data centers, colocations, server rooms, and IDFs.
  • Tech Debt Reduction: Develop and execute plans to reduce technical debt and modernize infrastructure, ensuring long-term stability and scalability.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in processes, technologies, and services to enhance overall efficiency and client satisfaction for operational services.
  • Modernization: Provide leadership to various global initiatives such as application modernization, cloud strategy, and technology debt reduction

Your Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of IT professionals, both internal and with a MSP, promoting a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for IT infrastructure management and maintenance.
  • Manage IT infrastructure projects, ensuring they meet our requirements and are completed on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate with other department leaders, such as Facilities, to align IT infrastructure management with our goals.
  • Monitor the performance of IT systems and make recommendations for improvements or upgrades.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to data security and data center operations.
  • Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts to support IT infrastructure needs.
  • Prepare and manage the budget for IT infrastructure expenses.

The Essentials - You Will Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of relevant work experience.
  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required- we will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, not now or in the future, for this job opening.
  • Ability to travel, including internationally, up to 20%.

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

  • Typically requires 8+ years relevant IT infrastructure leadership experience.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Strong technical knowledge of data center operations, cloud technologies, on-prem versus cloud strategy, general networking.
  • Experience leading large-scale IT projects and initiatives.
