Job Summary:

As a member of the Cloud Solutions and Interdisciplinary Services (CSIS) team, the Software Engineer provides hands-on engineering and technical leadership for our projects, such as Computer Aided Mass Appraisal or Google Mobility solutions. The successful Software Engineer will research rapidly evolving Cloud and DevOps technologies, frameworks, tools, and approaches to stay current and know when and how to best incorporate them as part of an overall solution. This position is client-facing and focused on successful project delivery, including providing technical leadership for your project team, collaborating during discovery activities, developing technical solutions, hands-on coding, and testing in an agile/scrum environment.



Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

    Perform client and project discovery activities to understand business and technical requirements.
  • Key member of the engineering team, working with client engineering teams, product owners, solutions architects, back-end/front-end developers to drive successful project delivery for our clients and solutions.
  • Write code: implement and test code using Infrastructure as Code for cloud native applications.
  • Design cloud infrastructure to ensure cost-effective, reliable, and scalable SaaS platforms.
  • Develop CI/CD pipelines to automate building, testing, and deploying software.
  • Implement Site Reliability Engineering practices and processes.
  • Ensure systems are meeting required security guidelines and frameworks
  • Follow agile/scrum methodologies and best practices.
  • Work closely with the cloud solutions architect and technical project manager to drive successful delivery of client projects as well as establish repeatable processes and best practices in a professional services organization.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in cloud or systems engineering role.
  • 4+ years of experience in cloud engineering and DevOps.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in at least one programming language (C#, Python, Java, NodeJS/ES6, etc.).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in at least one Infrastructure as Code language (Terraform, Pulumi, AWS CDK).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in designing and deploying cloud infrastructure in either AWS or GCP (compute, storage, networking, security, monitoring/operations)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in deploying container-based applications (Kubernetes, Cloud Run, Fargate)
  • Solid understanding of SDLC and Agile software development methodologies and tools related to team software development (e.g., Git, Jira, etc.)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Multi-cloud deployment migration experience
  • Google Cloud Platform professional certifications
  • Professional services experience, designing and delivering large enterprise solutions
  • Cloud-native application development
  • Knowledge of security and networking principles
  • Google Maps Platform development experience, e.g., Google Maps APIs
