We are looking for a Payroll Tax Accountant (Accountant II) for our client, a tech company in Austin, Texas.

6-month W2 contract
Hybrid (onsite Tues/Wed/Thurs). Candidate must be local for consideration
Responsibilities
- Compile payroll related information requested by legal, governmental authorities or insurance providers.
- Provide support on vendor and payroll system set ups, issues and/or questions.
- Utilize technical and analytical skills to document processes, reduce processing times and improve accuracy.
- Research and respond to employees cases to answer payroll questions or concerns relating to gross payment, taxes withheld, deductions, current and prior year federal and state taxable wages and pay portal access
- in-depth wage and hour knowledge as it relates to taxable income, W2 reporting, and understands HR system corrections vs. Payroll system corrections.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, with strong interpersonal and influential skills.
- Regularly interact and communicate with co-workers, business partners (such as EDA, people support, stock and benefits) and vendors including Sedgwick, Willis Towers Watson and Optum
- Ability to independently work on and resolve complex issues that require in depth analysis gross to net earnings. Experience with Payroll / HR Operation Systems, Reporting Tools and Microsoft excel required.
Education / Experience / Key Qualification
- S/BA in Finance, HR, Accounting, Mathematics or other relevant field strongly preferred.
- Proficient in excel (advanced to expert skill level)
- Fast learner with Ability to learn various systems quickly
- Ability to assess risks and determine the most appropriate path forward to resolution.
- Obsess over the employee experience and accuracy.
The pay for this W-2 position ranges from $38.00-$41.40 per hour. This position may be eligible for PTO, health and dental insurance, and/or 401(k) benefits upon meeting certain length of service and hours requirements.
