Description

The Senior Manager of Cost Accounting plays a key role in maintaining the standard cost system, overseeing manufacturing accounting and analysis, and reporting variances. This position involves managing personnel, processes, and systems while continuously improving accounting procedures to align with corporate financial objectives. The Senior Manager of Cost Accounting provides reporting and analysis to the corporate finance and accounting team, including the Executive Team and CFO, to support strategic and operational planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the manufacturing close process, ensuring accurate cost recording, journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Assess inventory obsolescence, net realizable value and capitalization of variances to establish appropriate reserves.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Accounting, Finance, Operations, Compliance) on key operational projects and cost-related initiatives.
  • Assist in annual budget planning and reforecasting.
  • Review comprehensive analysis of various financial and operational reports, including scrap, work-in-progress (WIP), forecast reporting, purchase price variance (PPV), Production Order Variances (POV), and Overhead expenses.
  • In coordination with plant controllers, monitor and review inventory cycle counts, subcontractor reconciliations and resulting inventory adjustments.
  • Establish and maintain standard product costing to support pricing strategies.
  • Oversee the annual audit process related to cost of sales, manufacturing operations, and inventory, ensuring timely responses and analysis for auditors.
  • Assist in compiling financial data for tax return preparation.
  • Manage and develop a small team of cost accountants.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting; CPA, CMA, and/or MBA preferred and 12 years of job experience.
  • Experience in Cost Accounting; semiconductor industry preferred.
  • Experience working with ERP systems; SAP preferred.
  • Strong expertise in financial modeling and data analysis.
  • Proven ability to provide financial insights to senior leadership.

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD$126,500 -$241,700 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different base pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S. Benefits include access to healthcare benefits (including a premium-free medical plan option), a 401(k) plan and company match, an employee stock purchase plan, paid time off (including vacation, sick/wellness, parental leave), among others. Employees are eligible to participate in an incentive plan, and certain roles are also eligible for additional awards, including recognition and stock.
