The Vice President (VP) of Analytical Services is accountable for Inotiv's analytical services business unit located in West Lafayette, IN. The scope of the role is overall management and oversight of the people and services, comprised of bioanalysis and dose formulation analysis in support of discovery and safety assessment work executed at other Inotiv sites and independent contracts. The VP will foster an environment of technological and scientific expertise in support of Inotiv's growth of discovery and safety assessment business. This position will build strong relationships throughout the organization through consistent communication and feedback.

The VP will facilitate and improve site and inter-disciplinary team relationships, resulting in high levels of engagement and collaboration within the site, with business development and across the Discovery and Safety Assessment organization. This position will develop the operations leaders to embrace change and ignite performance across teams and scientific departments. The VP will support local, regional, and Inotiv business development opportunities and enable client success from discovery to development.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead a site group comprised of technical and professional (PhD) level staff responsible for analytical services in support of drug discovery and development in a regulated (GLP and GCP) environment.
  • Manage team priorities and resource allocation for the West Lafayette Regional team in pursuit of operational capacity and growth, without sacrificing quality and client service.
  • Ensure facilities meet scientific, regulatory, and inspection agency guidelines and expectations; resolve issues identified in audits and escalate to senior leaders as appropriate.
  • Interface with clients and prospects (or delegate as appropriate) modeling Inotiv's core values; ensure all team members are clear and aligned.
  • Closely partner with the business development group to support client and vendor relationships.
  • Promote an open and communicative culture; foster a team environment that aligns with Inotiv's culture and promotes the pursuit of maximizing potential.
  • Ensure employees receive effective coaching, mentoring, and training to support growth and development on a consistent and regular basis.
  • Plan and assures adequate staffing, facilities, equipment, budget preparation and execution, full P&L responsibility, designated as test facility management.
  • Develop operational and strategic plans for the analytical services group in alignment with the overall Discovery and Safety Assessment strategic plan.
  • Oversee division operations to ensure production efficiency, quality, service, cost-effective management of resources and maximize utilization.
  • Responsible for divisional operational procedures, policies, and standards.
  • Review activity reports and financial data to determine progress and status in attaining objectives and revise objectives and plans in accordance with current conditions.
  • Evaluate performance of management for compliance with established policies and objectives of the division and contributions in attaining objectives.
  • Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule and travel.
  • Participates in client communications and site visits as required.
  • Perform as Test Facility Management in regulatory inspections.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Critical Success Factors

  • Leadership acumen with solid influencing skills necessary to drive change effectively and cross-functionally.
  • Demonstrated core expertise in one or more of the aforementioned scientific disciplines, within the context of drug discovery and/or regulated drug development.
  • Understanding of GLP and GCLP regulations; support and/or execute the duties of Test Facility. Management in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English required); open, interactive style that facilitates high levels of trust.
  • Strong presentation skills related to complex and/or difficult topics to internal and external audiences.
  • Exceptional partnering and collaboration skills with stakeholders at all levels.

Requirements:

  • 10 years' experience in life sciences, and ideally in a contract research organization or research laboratory environment, preferably GLP, GCP or GMP operations.

*This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience. The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person's relevant experience and/or education level.
