Overview

The Retirement Plan Advisor serves as a trusted contact on a assigned accounts including defined contribution (401k) plan clients, while seeking new business opportunities. The Advisor collaborates closely with the Retirement Plan Client Executive and Portfolio Manager to meet the needs of the clients, Plan Sponsors, and participants. The Advisor will engage with existing clients, prospects, internal teams, and external partners to foster relationships and drive business growth.

This position may be filled as a Level I, II or III. Additional responsibilities and qualifications apply.



Responsibilities

    Develop and maintain long-term relationships with business owners, board members, plan sponsors, client decision makers, and plan participants, servicing as their primary point of contact for all wealth management needs.
  • Drive new business growth through proactive revenue generation and client engagement strategies.
  • Collaborate with Retirement Plan Team Members to deliver exceptional client service.
  • Collaborate with the Portfolio Manager to conduct annual client meetings and deliver plan overview, investment performance, and fund selection updates.
  • Facilitate in-person or virtual participant education and enrollment sessions participants
  • Partner with internal teams to coordinate marketing events, communications, and strategic projects.
  • Represent Trustmark Wealth Management in presentations to internal and external groups;
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the various requirements for governing instruments, account opening policies, procedures, regulations, and relevant laws, including ERISA.


Qualifications

  • At least one of the following:
    • Graduate of Trust School
      And 3 years of experience in the administration of the type of accounts and clients related to the organizational unit; or
    • Bachelor's Degree in a business-related field or equivalent work experience
      And 5 years of experience in the administration of the type of accounts and clients related to the organizational unit; or
    • Graduate Degree in a field related to the function of the organizational unit
      And 3 years of experience in the administration of the type of accounts and clients related to the organizational unit or in a field related to the graduate degree
  • Able to demonstrate a moderate level of knowledge of the types, complexity, respective governance, transactions and industry practices of the clients and accounts administered by the organizational unit.
  • Excellent client communication and interpersonal skills (oral and written)
  • CRSP, QKA, AIF or other Certification within the field of the organizational unit preferred.
  • Juris Doctor preferred.
  • CPA preferred.
  • CFP "Certified Financial Planner" preferred.
  • CWS "Certified Wealth Strategist" preferred.

Level II Additional Qualifications:

  • At least one of the following:
    • Graduate of Trust School
      And 6 years of experience in the administration of the type of accounts and clients related to the organizational unit; or
    • Bachelor's Degree in a business-related field or equivalent work experience
      And 10 years of experience in the administration of the type of accounts and clients related to the organizational unit; or
    • Graduate Degree in a field related to the function of the organizational unit
      And 7 years of experience in the administration of the type of accounts and clients related to the organizational unit or in a field related to the graduate degree; or
    • Seven or more years of experience in the private practice of law or professional accounting; or
    • Three years of financial planning and/or proven sales experience in a Wealth Management firm.
  • Able to demonstrate an advanced level of knowledge of the types, complexity, respective governance, transactions and industry practices of the clients and accounts administered by the organizational unit.

Level III Additional Qualifications:

  • At least one of the following:
    • Graduate of Trust School
      And 8 years of experience in the administration of the type of accounts and clients related to the organizational unit; or
    • Bachelor's Degree in a business-related field or equivalent work experience
      And 12 years of experience in the administration of the type of accounts and clients related to the organizational unit; or
    • Graduate Degree in a field related to the function of the organizational unit
      And 10 years of experience in the administration of the type of accounts and clients related to the organizational unit or in a field related to the graduate degree; or
    • Ten or more years of experience in the private practice of law or professional accounting; or
    • Five years of financial planning and/or proven sales experience in a Wealth Management firm.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Must be able to sit for long periods of time and use computer keyboard and/or mouse, while viewing computer screens. Must be able to travel for lengthy periods of time via car or airplane.
