APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:
JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Women's Health and Exercise Laboratory at Penn State University, under the co-direction of Dr. Mary Jane De Souza and Dr. Nancy Williams is seeking a postdoctoral scholar with skills in the execution of human clinical research and randomized clinical trials to study lead a study on perimenopausal bone health. The Women's Health and Exercise Laboratory is in the Penn State College of Health andHuman Development, Department of Kinesiology. This post-doctoral position will primarily work on a project funded by the USDA, that will focus on the attenuation of bone loss during late perimenopause and early menopause. The position requires a backgroundin the execution of human clinical research, to include: 1) The managing and writing of Institutional Review Board Human Study requirements and to manage all required modifications to accommodate study design approvals, protocol applications and modification issues to the experimentalprotocols. 2) Oversee and lead the study and function as the coordinator of the study, to include working with a Clinical Research Center to manage nursing visits and the day to day execution of study visits in the laboratory. 3) Manage data base organization, data entry and data analyses, and as such, good experience to run longitudinal statistical analyses. 4) Manage the day to day study visits with all study participants. 5) Drafting of study reports. 6) Managing adverse study event logs. 7) Work collaboratively with the laboratory technician workingon the study. The applicant will be expected to be involved in all stages of experimental design and analysis, as well as scientific reporting, and will receivementorship in these skills as well as grantsmanship. The ideal candidate will hold an earned Ph.D. degree in Kinesiology, Physiology, or a related field. A track record of successful research in this field is preferred, and excellent communication skills are essential.The successful candidate must have completed all Ph.D. degree requirements by the appointment date.
