JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: A postdoctoral fellowship position is immediately available at the Ken and Mary Alice Lindquist Department of Nuclear Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University (Penn State). This opportunity focuses on investigating radiation-induced defects and performance degradation in wide bandgap semiconductors, particularly gallium nitride (GaN)-based devices. The postdoctoral scholar will lead advanced characterization efforts of radiation damage in GaN and related materials using state-of-the-art microscopy techniques, including:
The scholar will work under the mentorship of Prof. Xing Wang and Prof. Mia Jin and collaborate with a multidisciplinary research team from UIUC, Duke, Iowa State, and CMU. The project aims to elucidate the fundamental mechanisms governing wide bandgap device behavior in challenging radiation environments, such as those found in nuclear reactors and space.
