About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Controller to oversee the financial operations of our organization. This position is responsible for managing the accounting team, ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, maintaining internal controls, and supporting strategic financial planning. The ideal candidate is both a strategic thinker and a hands-on leader with deep expertise in accounting principles and financial analysis. Key Responsibilities Lead all aspects of the company's accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable laws Support the annual budgeting process and ongoing financial forecasting Manage the year-end audit process with external auditors Oversee cash flow management and reporting Monitor key performance indicators and provide insights to senior leadership Ensure tax compliance and coordinate with external tax advisors Develop and mentor accounting staff, fostering a culture of accuracy and accountability Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred) 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements Experience with ERP/accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP) Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders Vaco by Highspring values a diverse workplace and strongly encourages women, people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, people with disabilities, members of ethnic minorities, foreign-born residents, and veterans to apply.
