What you'll be doing...
The Global Network & Technology (GN&T) Network Security team is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Principal Engineer to join the Security Defense organization. The Defense teams are responsible for owning the security lifecycle and effectiveness across the Core, Edge, and Access networks and all of the systems and network functions within GN&T.

In this role, you will be expected to work across organizations and with network vendors to improve the security hygiene by implementing the Network Security Fundamentals (Access Management, Situational Awareness, Configuration Hardening, Vulnerability Mitigation). You will be accountable for the network security scorecard and responsible for safeguarding your respective network/network functions through continuous monitoring and proactive threat detections.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build healthy relationships across the Operations, Engineering, and Planning organizations to better understand the current and future landscape of the network.

  • Discover, identify, and inventory all network assets and asset information (model, version, etc) in your respective area of responsibility.

  • Build a deep understanding of the network assets and the roadmap to quickly assess the impact of vulnerabilities and identify End-of-Life/End-of-Support hardware/software.

  • Develop a baseline of normal operations and implement threat detections to alert of deviations to proactively identify potential cyber threats.

  • Develop incident response protocols to quickly identify, contain, and resolve network security incidents and threats.

  • Understand the current state of cybersecurity and improve the security posture through the implementation of the Network Security Fundamentals (Access Management, Situational Awareness, Configuration Hardening, Vulnerability Mitigation).

  • Ownership and accountability for the network security scorecard and drive increased maturity, visibility, and subject-matter expertise.

  • Ensuring that the security controls planned for the Networks are operating effectively.

What we're looking for...
You'll need to have...

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant work experience, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.

  • Six or more years of network infrastructure engineering experience

  • Experience with networks, 4G/5G wireless network functions, and/or virtualization technologies like Openstack and Kubernetes.

  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders including highly technical teams, business owners, and executives.

  • Experience leading and mentoring other engineers, with experience guiding and developing teams.

  • Experience managing complex network projects and delivering results.

  • Leadership experience as a subject matter expert.

Even better if you also have...

  • Experience with Splunk or other data analysis tools.

  • Network Security certifications such as CISSP.

  • Familiarity with Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions.

  • Demonstrated organization and project management skills.

  • Knowledge of technical product and systems development lifecycle within a large global enterprise environment.

  • Effective written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills.
