About the Job

The MN Landscape Arboretum is searching for temporary Cashiers for the Gift & Garden Store operations. These are temporary positions (no more than 67 days total worked in the calendar year). Shifts could vary Monday - Sunday including days and evenings. All work hours are completed onsite at the MN Landscape Arboretum's Gift & Garden Store located in Chaska, MN.
These positions require superior customer service, attention to detail, and an ability to work with a diverse group of people.
Cashiers are expected to provide customer service assistance to guests, process sales including handling cash and credit/debit transactions accurately, provide change as needed, and issue receipts. These positions assist customers with inquiries and provide information about products. Cashiers will also assist with ensuring shelves are restocked and displays are neat.

Responsibilities:
* Cashiering
* Customer Service
* Light Housekeeping
* Daily Sales Reconciliation
* Opening and closing duties

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
* High school diploma/GED and two years operations and/or student support experience
* Ability to interact with guests and co-workers in a professional, courteous and helpful manner
* Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays
* Ability to stand for extended periods
* Ability to lift 20 pounds
* Ability to follow an established safety protocol

Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience in cashiering, customer service, or sales

About the Department

The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is a community outreach unit of the University of Minnesota's College of Food, Agriculture and Natural Resource Sciences. The Arboretum is located west of Minneapolis/St Paul and its 1,200 acres traverse the municipalities of Chaska, Chanhassen and Victoria. As a member of the American Public Garden Association and an accredited museum through the American Alliance of Museums, the Arboretum is a tremendous public asset. Visitors engage with gardens, collections, natural areas, a farm, research demonstrations, youth and adult education, events and exhibits. Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $18.00; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
