Description
Job Summary: The Yearbook Key Accounts Specialist role is a full-time, salaried exempt role within Yearbook Sales. As the Key Accounts Specialist, you will assist with managing relationships with key Walsworth Yearbooks accounts across the United States in an effort to deepen relationships and grow the yearbook division. This position reports directly to the Executive Vice President of Yearbook Sales. Essential Functions:
- Oversee Walsworth's commitment to scholastic journalism
- Build relationships with yearbook advisers and facilitate adviser community
- Attend and teach at national and select state journalism conventions and workshops
- Be responsible for organizing and running customer and prospect events throughout the year
- Plan and facilitate yearbook workshops for customer and prospect schools
- Travel to key school accounts to support advisers and local sales representatives with the yearbook creation process
- Help facilitate and run monthly training videos, podcasts, etc.
- Host virtual and/or in-person yearbook training sessions for advisers and/or yearbook staff
- Guide customers through the yearbook design process, offering expertise in areas such as theme development, design, photography, covers and layout
- Provide training and resources to customers covering effective journalism practices, including writing, editing and content organization
- Review and offer constructive feedback on yearbook content to maintain high standards of quality and journalistic integrity
- Work closely with internal teams such as Marketing, Production and Sales to ensure customer expectations are met
- Play a material role in securing significant amount of new business
- Communicate client feedback to relevant teams to drive continuous improvement in products and services
- Stay informed about industry trends and competitor offerings to provide customers with innovative yearbook solutions
- Maintain an accurate database of school customers, prospects, contacts and their needs
- Up to 50-80% travel (including overnight trips) required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- A bachelor's degree in journalism, English or a related field is required
- Credentials such as a Certified Journalism Educator (CJE) or Master Journalism Educator (MJE) preferred
- Prior experience as a yearbook staffer or adviser preferred
- Prior experience with key accounts management, sales or journalism, preferably within the yearbook or publishing industry
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Proficiency with Adobe creative software and relevant applications and tools used in yearbook production and content management
- Demonstrated advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Windows-based databases
- Must be well-versed in AP Style and journalism rules
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, English or a related field is required
- Valid Driver's License
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen
- Must be willing and able to travel up to 50-80% of the time (including overnight trips)
- Must be able to attend key Walsworth Yearbooks events, including the annual National Sales Meeting, annual Elite Weekend workshops, biannual Show-Me Seminars, biannual JEA/NSPA High School Journalism Conventions, annual CSPA High School Journalism Convention, etc.
