Position Title: Commercial Loan Operations Specialist - Loan Closer

Eligibility for Remote: Yes, MUST be located in AL, AR, FL, GA, LA, MO, MS, TN, or TX

Job Posting:

The Loan Closer is responsible for coordinating syndicated and complex commercial loans closing as well as issuing a clear to close to authorize loan closings. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of loan syndications, complex commercial lines of credit, regulatory requirements, credit policy, collateral, insurance, loan servicing, and GAAP loan accounting.

How You will Make an Impact (Principal Duties and Responsibilities):



  • Read and interpret complex loan agreements and credit approval documents to assess regulatory and credit policy compliance.
  • Issue to Clear to Close memos authorizing loan closings.
  • Read and interpret complex credit agreements and assess system functionality to book commercial deals in accordance terms outlined in the credit agreement and with GAAP.
  • Close, fund, and book loans into CLS as assigned.
  • Provide guidance to RMs and attorneys on deals structuring and certain legal language in the credit agreements.
  • Consistently exercise strong judgment around regulatory issues consulting with Compliance as needed.
  • Use comprehensive understanding of commercial loan activity to provide insight around collateral documentation and servicing of complex credits.
  • Communicate effectively upward and downward, with outside attorneys, and other financial institutions.
  • Monitoring assigned work queues to ensure performance is within service level agreement.
  • Following and maintain internal controls.
  • Provide knowledge and expertise to assist in development of procedures and job aids in the flow of closing and booking activity.
  • Escalate potential client issues to senior manager timely.
  • Review and approve peer transactions as requested.


Job Specifications:



  • College degree preferred in Banking & Finance or Accounting
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience with Syndicated Loan Closings or Loan Servicing
  • CLS (f.k.a) ACBS loan system expert
  • Regular and reliable attendance
  • Results oriented and detailed driven
  • Operates with a sense of urgency
  • Excellent understanding of regulatory requirements and the ability to read, interpret, and execute on applicable requirements


  • Ability to read and interpret complex loan agreements and assess system functionality to book and service complex credits
  • Excellent understanding of collateral documentation
  • Strong understanding of loan trading processes
  • Excellent understanding of loan accounting and revenue recognition requirements in accordance with GAAP
  • Ability to read and interpret credit approvals and credit policy to ensure compliance
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Must be able to communicate upward and downward, with outside attorneys, and other financial institutions
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Ability to make independent decisions daily
  • Strong sense of internal and SOX controls
  • Customer service focused
