Summary: Works to build relationships with hiring managers to identify talent that supports the Bank's strategic plans, and perpetuates the culture of fun, ambassadorship, and the Centier image. Plans and implements recruiting and hiring strategies that drive quality-of-hire, time to fill, and provide an extraordinary candidate and hiring experience. Flexibility, recruiting vision, social recruitment strategy, business acumen, personal organization, and the ability to succeed in a collaborative team are required. Builds and maintains relationships with Centier associates to help make their careers at Centier Bank successful and to assist with the retention of quality associates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review employment applications by evaluating work history, education and training, job skills, compensation needs and other qualifications.
  • Perform interviews of qualified applicants by using the Targeted Selection system. Match applicants that meet the job requirements and refer applicants to managers.
  • Assist in hiring decisions by discussing qualifications, skills, predictive index assessment results, and the interview experience.
  • Build relationships with Centier Bank managers to make the best hiring decisions.
  • Perform reference, background, and credit checks on applicants.
  • Review and process staff requisitions. Create a job posting according to the requirements specified in the staff requisition, and post through the Workday system. Interview any qualified internal associates.
  • Contact and update applicants who were selected for a position and those not selected.
  • Provide guidance and feedback to associates on present position and future opportunities.
  • Hire for, and manage, the Bank's Internship program.
  • Recruit applicants for open positions by participating in job fairs, working with college career and placement offices, utilizing state and federal agencies such as Indiana Workforce Development and School to Work, and building relationships with area high schools. Create and build relationships with contacts within these organizations.
  • Keep records of new hires and applicants not selected for employment - diligently and consistently document information within the Workday system/applicant file regarding reason not selected.
  • Be an active part of the new hire Foundations program by managing and leading these classes and assist with coordinating the program as needed. Will be trained on all 3 days of this program.
  • Follow up with new associates to make sure their careers are off to a good start.
  • Work effectively with other members of the team to ensure quality associates are chosen, developed, and retained by listening to other team members ideas, supporting decisions made by other team members, attending bank meetings, and encouraging Centier's values at all levels of the organization.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Will manage department programs and initiatives as needed.
  • Responsible for Human Resources related projects and reports and will assist other department members with their workload as needed.
  • Visits branches and departments periodically to follow up and build rapport. Be able to career counsel to find underlying issues to pass on to the employee relations area.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Federal and Indiana State employment laws.
  • Strong computer knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Smartsheet, Outlook, etc.
  • Comfort with technology and learning new systems is critical.
  • Ability to work through processes, decisions, and problems by listening, thinking through all facts and information, and responding based on previous experience and facts.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Able and willing to travel to all branches, job fairs and community events as needed.
  • Be a contact and go-to for college and community partners to assist in bank recruitment efforts which may include presenting to students or clients when needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required. A degree in Human Resources is preferred but will factor in experience within the HR field if the degree is unrelated.
  • A minimum of 2-5 years of experience in Human Resources/Staffing required.
  • Proven client service & relationship building experience required.

**This position is based out of the Corporate Centre in Merrillville, IN. Department hours are Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00 but having schedule flexibility to attend recruiting events that go into the evening would be needed.
