Inova central lab is looking for a dedicated Medical Laboratory Scientist to join the team. This position will be full-time evening Monday through Friday. Sign on and Relocation bonus available. Job Responsibilities:
- Reviews technical activities for quality assurance per facility requirements.
- Participates and helps prepare Laboratory for self and onsite inspections.
- Follows site specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and instructions; Annually reads SOP and documents knowledge of contents.
- Performs required Quality Control (QC) measures, including corrective action and documentation, for all procedures and instrumentation; Recognizes QC problems or discrepancies and attempts to determine cause of problems prior to notification. Notifies appropriate individual(s) regarding QC problems or discrepancies according to the established procedures.
- Acts as a resource person/key operator for coworkers, customers and patients for technical questions; Demonstrates an expanded knowledge of technical and administrative tasks beyond normal technical operations.
- Reports accurate results while minimizing the number of corrected reports not attributed to auto-verification or specimen conditions beyond technical control.

- Licensure - None Required
- Certification - AMT or ASCP Board certification consistent with scope of responsibility to include: Medical Lab Scientist (MLS), Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Lab Technician (MLT), Histotechnician (HT), Histotechnologist (HTL), Technologist in Blood Banking (BB), Technologist in Chemistry (C), Technologist in Hematology (H), Technologist in Microbiology (M), Cytotechnologist (CT), Clinical Laboratory Technologist
- Experience - 1 year of clinical experience; Successful completion of a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science accredited Medical Lab Scientist program or Accredited Bureau of Health Education Schools accredited Medical Lab Technician program, within the last 5 years can be used in lieu of 1 year full time acceptable clinical experience
- Education - Bachelor's degree in science from a college/university recognized by regional or national accreditation agency. Other acceptable forms of education will follow the guidelines of American Society for Clinical Pathology /American Medical Technologists Board certification For TA + Onboarding: OTHER FORMS OF ACCEPTABLE EDU: A Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college/university in any Science with 16 semester hours (24 quarter hours) in biology including one semester in microbiology and 16 semester hours (24 quarter hours) in chemistry including one semester in organic or biochemistry, which may be obtained within, or in addition to, the baccalaureate degree. AND one of the following:*Successful completion of a 50-week U.S. military medical laboratory training course within the last ten years* Successful completion of a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science accredited Medical Laboratory Scientist program *** Board certification and Degree can be used as proof that this requirement is met***
