THE POSITION

In this role, you will help the Analytical Intelligence Section gather and evaluate information to aid law enforcement. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Intelligence Analyst Trainee, you will receive formal and on-the-job training in gathering and analyzing intelligence information from a variety of sources to develop work products for law enforcement's use in anticipating, preventing, investigating, and monitoring criminal activity. Duties are performed with increasing independence as experience is gained. Your work in this position will include utilizing computerized systems and software to research and categorize investigative and intelligence information. You will work with investigators to assist in collecting, evaluating, and analyzing comprehensive reports related to local, regional, state, and national security. You can expect to assist in researching and analyzing criminal intelligence data on individuals, businesses, groups, and activities in response to requests for assistance in solving criminal investigations, developing leads, or in preparation for planned intelligence operations. The work completed in this role is subject to the highest confidentiality standards due to access to highly sensitive or classified information.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours will be determined through rotating shifts, including holidays and weekends.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $47,883.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 60 college credits.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of a Secret Security Clearance issued by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) or attainment of this clearance during the probationary period, and continual maintenance of this clearance during employment in the position. Failure to obtain and maintain FBI Secret Security Clearance will result in the employee's removal from the position. Removal may result in the termination of employment if other placement options are not available.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must possess a bachelor's degree in criminal justice, homeland security, intelligence studies, or criminology.
  • You must possess the ability to obtain and maintain an active Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Police within the probationary period and maintain the same for the duration of employment in this job.
  • You must be willing to work onsite full-time. Teleworking is not an option as part of this position's work schedule.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Internship experience with a criminal justice agency
  • Completion of a PACIC Analyst Tutorial within the last year

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
