Assistant Controller, Wholesale and Commercial Accounting

The Assistant Controller, Wholesale and Commercial Accounting has primary responsibility for managing the accounting operations of the Commodity Accounting, Terminal Accounting, Settlement & Cash Application teams. The position will report to the Controller and will be responsible for all Global's Wholesale & Commercial Supply Accounting functions and collaborate with Risk as necessary to support the preparation of daily and monthly mark-to-market and position reporting for Global's front office operations. This includes working closely with Business Unit leaders and Risk analyzing and reporting results to senior management.

  • Maintains integrity of accounting records and reports in accordance with GAAP
  • Acts as a liaison with both external and internal auditors during SOX, quarterly review, and year- end audit testing procedures.
  • Responsible for understanding the flow of transactions of the financial reporting application and the interfacing between systems
  • Responsible for coordination, preparation and review of monthly financial reporting packages and deliverables, including the consolidated financial statements
  • Develop documented policies and procedures for all commodity accounting operations
  • Prepares and reviews monthly financial reporting; and is heavily involved in monthly and year-end closing schedules
  • Enhance existing reporting capabilities and shorten the time required to prepare financial reports and related schedules
  • Oversee/monitor general ledger account reconciliation, gross margin analytical analysis to ensure the needs of the business are met timely and accurately
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly reporting packages and submit for approval
  • Pursue proactive process improvement to align with best practice using system knowledge and MS Excel manipulation to redesign business and accounting process.
  • Lead, inspire and train staff and business personnel on new or modified or existing accounting processes

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Required 7 years of accounting experience.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with automation/workflow tools such as Alteryx, Tableau & UI Path
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships.
  • Ability to influence others.
  • Strategic thinking skills.
  • Accounting skills.
  • Proficient/Expert user of Microsoft Excel
