Pay range: $115,000 - $160,000 per annum

What do we expect from you?

Fairmont Washington, D.C., Georgetown is searching for an experienced, forward-thinking Director of Engineering to lead all engineering and maintenance functions of the hotel, ensuring services are executed to the highest standards. This pivotal role requires a leader who is committed to operational excellence, delivering exceptional guest experiences, and maintaining a smooth, efficient, and innovative property. As the Director of Engineering, you will manage all technical aspects, including the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, and the overall maintenance of the property, while ensuring sustainability and energy efficiency are at the forefront.

How your day looks like:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the engineering department, ensuring the property is well-maintained and all systems are operating at peak performance.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive preventive maintenance program to maintain all equipment, building infrastructure, and machinery.
  • Manage the hotel's energy and water consumption, ensuring sustainability efforts are implemented, and track utility consumption and costs.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure that engineering initiatives and strategies are integrated into the overall guest experience and operational objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international regulations, including safety, fire, environmental, and health standards.
  • Develop and maintain annual budgets for the engineering department, focusing on cost control, efficiency improvements, and maximizing resources.
  • Lead, inspire, and manage the engineering team, creating a collaborative and motivated environment.
  • Act as a key liaison between external contractors and vendors, ensuring high-quality services and maintenance are provided.
  • Manage emergency repairs and ensure the property is prepared for unexpected technical issues, providing effective solutions.
  • Develop and maintain an ongoing training program to ensure that the engineering team stays up to date with the latest technologies and industry best practices.

This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and an unwavering commitment to operational excellence. As the Director of Engineering, you will be critical to ensuring the property runs smoothly and efficiently, contributing to the overall guest experience and success of the Fairmont Washington, D.C., Georgetown.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior engineering operations position or 2-3 years of experience in a similar capacity
  • High degree of professionalism with strong understanding of business acumen
  • Previous Engineering experience in a comparable leadership role within a similar hotel brand or operation.
  • Exceptional technical skills and knowledge in managing complex and diverse facilities
  • Strong relator with ability to build collaborative relationships.
  • Strategic, creative and able to communicate effectively.
  • A proven leader who is able to inspire others and drive change.
  • Strong business acumen and demonstrated success in driving business.
  • Must have professional working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, plumbing and Hot water generation systems including devices such as pressure regulators, solenoid valves, gas valves, electrical relays, etc.
