What does Thomson Reuters Labs do? We experiment, we build, we deliver. We work closely with product and domain experts to identify compelling solutions at the intersection of user need and technical feasibility. Our team is designing the next generation of expert systems for legal and tax professionals globally. You'll leverage state-of-the-art large language models on a robust AI platform to develop agents and tools that empower legal and tax professionals, reduce workload, and enhance the accuracy of AI systems.
About the Role: In this opportunity as a AI Solutions Engineer - Agents, you will:
- Develop and Deliver: Apply modern software development practices to build, test, and deliver high-quality AI and ML-driven solutions for the legal domain.
- Build Scalable ML Solutions: Develop large-scale data processing pipelines that support innovative legal AI capabilities, including natural language processing, document summarization, and case law analysis.
- Legal Prompt Engineering: Design, test, and optimize prompts for AI assistants to ensure high-quality, accurate responses to legal queries. Work with interdisciplinary teams to refine these systems and integrate them into workflows.
- Leverage Legal Expertise: Collaborate with legal professionals to identify opportunities where AI can address specific challenges, from contract analysis to jurisdiction-specific case predictions.
- Be a Team Player: Work closely with technical, legal, and product teams to build impactful AI solutions tailored to legal users' needs.
- Innovate Responsibly: Ensure AI systems align with ethical and legal standards, incorporating safeguards to address issues like data confidentiality and AI bias.
- Be an Agile Innovator: Adapt to a fast-paced environment, taking ownership of solutions from conception to deployment, and iteratively refining approaches based on results.
About You: You are a fit for this AI Solutions Engineer - Agents, role if your background includes:
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Computer Science/Data Science/Machine Learning or a Bachelor's with equivalent experience.
- Basic familiarity with the architecture and operation of large language models.
- Prior experience exploring and testing language model behavior.
- A portfolio demonstrating creativity and aptitude for 0-1 concept development.
- Strong desire to work closely with subject matter experts on real world use cases.
- Active interest in emerging research and industry trends around AI software development
- Proficiency in python and relevant AI development tools.
- A mindset for good experiment design and evaluation
- Excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail.
Preferred qualifications:
- A portfolio of projects demonstrating creativity and skill building solutions with LLMs
- Prior exposure to NLP tasks like Named Entity Recognition (NER), Information Retrieval, Document Summarization and/or Question Answering.
- Demonstrated experience building software applications with machine learning models

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations.
For any eligible US locations, unless otherwise noted, the base compensation range for this role is $94,500 - $175,500.
This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
