About the Job

This position reports to the Early Childhood Development Center Program Director.

This is a 12-month 100% appointment. The hours vary according to the needs of the program between 7:30 am - 5 pm.

Under the direction of the Program Director, this position aids the director with meeting MN DHS Child Care Center Licensing requirements and USDA Food Program (CACFP). In addition, serve as a substitute classroom teacher when professional teachers are absent.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Office Assistant (80%)

  • Oversight and maintain MN DHS Rule 3 Child Care Center Licensing requirements
    • Staffing in accordance to child-adult ratio.
    • Maintain records and reports as directed by program director, such as personnel records, child application, enrollment, health and safety.
    • Just-in-time training on the floor for student workers and staff.
  • Oversight and maintain USDA Food Program requirements:
    • Maintain records and reports as required by CACFP
  • Child Care Assistance Program
    • Maintain records and reports as required by the county agency.
  • Knowledge of ECDC requirements and expectations serving as a University teacher-training laboratory.

Substitute Teacher (20%)

  • Develop and implement daily lesson plans to support all developmental domains of children in a safe and healthy learning environment.
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with families and provides timely communication in regards to child's development progress and concerns.
  • Assesses, identifies, and communicates with families during parent-teacher conferences.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • A combination of education, work/intern experience that meets State of MN State Human Services Licensing Act, Rule 3 (9503.0032) requirements for Child Care Centers.
  • Have or be willing to obtain within 90 days, 8 hours approved first aid training, Infant CPR.
  • Pass background fingerprint study and reference verification that meets requirements of State of MN State Human Services Licensing Act, Rule 11

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, and prioritize office duties
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point
  • Experience classroom teaching from birth through pre-k.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, with people from a variety of backgrounds and identities.
  • Strong collaboration skills to effectively partner with colleagues, parents, and children in a professional manner.
Pay and Benefits

Pay Rate: $22.94 per hour

Time Appointment: 75%-100% Appointment
