Summary of Job Duties:The Fire/Life Safety Officer position is crucial to ensure UAMS facilities are conducting the required regulations outline by Joint Commission, National Fire Prevention Codes and Building Codes. The Fire/Life Safety Officer is responsible for planning and implementing fire safety measures in the workplace. These measures include inspecting buildings for fire hazards, ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations, and educating staff about fire safety procedures. The Fire/Life Safety Officer provides expert counsel by evaluating, interpreting, and applying required regulations across fire life safety for all UAMS facilities. The Fire/Life Safety Officer also develop and implement policies to ensure our facilities are in compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations and Joint Commission. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in engineering, safety or related field with 5 years' experience -OR- Associate Degree in engineering, safety or related field with 7 years' experience -OR- High School Diploma/GED with 9 years' experience.
  • Computer program proficiency level: Intermediate.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission Environment of Care Standards and Life Safety Code.
  • Professional License/Certificate: OSHA's Hazardous Waste and Emergency. Response standard (HAZWOPER) 40 Hour initial training with an 8 hour annual refresher.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Supervisory experience.
