Summary:

The Data Scientist Program Manager will play a pivotal role in advancing child and community health through discovery, with a particular emphasis on population health informatics. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead a multidisciplinary team, drive innovative research, and contribute to the hospital's mission of improving the health and well-being of children and families.

Responsibilities:

  1. Leads the growth and development of the Computational Science and Biostatistics Program.
  2. Supervises employees, provides direction, coaches, trains and develops, and manages performance to company goals and expectations. Recruits, mentors, and retains a diverse team of computational scientists, biostatisticians, and data analysts.
  3. Fosters a collaborative and innovative research environment.
  4. Establishes and maintain an independent, extramurally funded research program in computational science, biostatistics, or related fields.
  5. Collaborates with clinical, translational, and community-based researchers to design and execute high-impact studies.
  6. Publishes research findings in top-tier journals and present at national and international conferences.
  7. Develops and execute a strategic plan for advancing computational science and biostatistics within the institution.
  8. Integrates advanced analytics and population health informatics into clinical and community health initiatives.
  9. Partners with hospital leadership to identify research priorities aligned with organizational goals.
  10. Oversees the program's budget, resources, and infrastructure to ensure efficiency and sustainability.
  11. Implements processes to ensure data security, compliance, and reproducibility in all research activities.
  12. Builds partnerships with academic institutions, industry, and public health organizations to foster collaborative research.
  13. Serves as an advocate for data-driven approaches to improving child health in the community.

Technical Expertise:

  1. Proven track record of obtaining extramural research funding and leading interdisciplinary research teams.
  2. Strong publication record in computational science, biostatistics, or population health informatics.
  3. Expertise in advanced statistical modeling, machine learning, or data visualization tools.
  4. Excellent communication, mentorship, and team-building skills.
  5. Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in research and leadership.

Education and Experience:

  1. Education: PhD or equivalent in Biostatistics, Computational Science, Epidemiology, or a related field.
  2. Experience in academic, clinical, or public health research, including leadership roles required.
  3. Experience working in a pediatric or community health-focused research environment preferred.
  4. Familiarity with the T3-T5 phases of translational research preferred.
  5. Knowledge of electronic health records data, data governance, and HIPAA compliance preferred.
