POSITION OVERVIEW The Environmental, Health, and Safety Professional is responsible for the overall coordination, implementation, and execution of environmental affairs for the plant. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the areas of wastewater treatment, air emissions, solid waste, hazardous waste, operator certification, asbestos management, spill response, auditing, SARA, storm water, environmental file maintenance administration of the ISO 14001 management system, and training. The Environmental Professional is responsible for being knowledgeable of the regulations applicable to the location and for staying abreast of state-of-the-art treatment and abatement technologies. The Environmental Professional is responsible for leading programs for the minimization and elimination of waste streams to all media (land, air and water). The Environmental Professional must also act as the Environmental Management Representative for the Environmental Management System (EMS) and has the responsibility and authority for ensuring than an EMS is established, implemented, and maintained in accordance with the requirements of ISO 14001; and he/she must also report to top management on the performance of the EMS for review, including recommendations for improvement.
