Position Summary |
This position reports to the Waste Reduction Services Manager. This position is responsible for supervising
UGA Waste Reduction Services personnel, collections operations and vehicles, including but not limited to those requiring a Commercial Driver's License (
CDL), such as front-end loaders, hook lift trucks, cable hoist trucks, rear packers, pickup truck and trailer, and a variety of large vehicles and/or heavy equipment. This position facilitates the collection, transport, management, and delivery of materials including solid waste, recyclables, organics, and infrastructure necessary to perform these duties. This position establishes and oversees the preparation of records, equipment servicing and preventative maintenance operations. Supervises skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled workers and performs related work as required. |
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies |
* Supervisory Experience
* Commercial Drivers License (
CDL) Class B or higher
* Knowledge and understanding of each vehicle type in the Waste Reduction Services Fleet, including cable and/or hook Roll-Off trucks, Front End Loaders (
FEL), Rear Loaders (
REL), and pull-behind trailers.
* General understanding and experience justifying and ordering materials for an operational unit, including but not limited to vehicles, mechanical supplies, automotive fluids, or receptacles/infrastructure. Inventory and organizational skills preferred.
* Good safety record and considerable knowledge of the hazards involved in equipment operation and the safety precautions necessary.
* Ability to type and be computer literate in the use of all Microsoft Office applications and quickly adaptable on all internal
UGA computer systems.
* Ability to create and execute written and verbal instructions to employees.
* Prior related truck driving work experience. |

- Walk, stoop, bend, squat, lift, climb stairs, sit, and stand throughout an 8 hour shift.
- Lift up to 75 lbs.
- Exposure to potential workplace hazards such as sharp object or hazardous materials.
- Sitting in potentially bumpy, vibrating and/or loud vehicles.
- Drive large commercial vehicles on crowded campus setting

- Supervise Waste Reduction Services personnel - hiring, firing, evaluations, and disciplinary action
- Supervise daily operations and logistics related to collections vehicles and equipment.
- Establish, assign, and enforce protocols and requirements such as safety procedures, human resources policies, and training.
- Establish and oversees data and the preparation of records.
