Work Schedule and Hours
Regular work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday-some evening and weekend work required.
Work schedules must be flexible due to the changes in the recruiting cycle and the academic year, i.e.,
1) during the travel seasons in the fall and the spring,
2) prior to and during regular registration periods,
3) follow-up activities such as telephone contacts during evening hours,
4) visitation programs scheduled on week-ends throughout the year and
outreach programs scheduled in the public and private schools during evening hours.

Position Summary
The Director of Admission for Operations strengthens the partnership between Admissions and Financial Aid and the University to support the enrollment and retention of future and current students. In addition, this position provides timely, accurate reporting to campus leadership to inform, analyze, and project enrollment This position reports directly to the Senior Director of Admission.
The Director is the University's data steward for all incoming student data as well as the institution's chief architect of the University's CRM (Slate). This includes leading the institution to effectively leverage the CRM to recruit, enroll, and transition new students to UNCA. The Director must stay abreast of new features of the CRM and make recommendations on how best to leverage new capabilities to achieve institution and UNC system goals. This will require collaborating and communicating effectively with the ADMFA units and campus leaders across divisions.
The Director is responsible for writing and maintaining the data-reporting tools, data integrity, analysis, and the accuracy of the data entered into the student information system(s). These reporting solutions are necessary to provide strategic point-in-time analysis related to application and admission activity, deposit activity, financial aid and merit-based scholarship spending, target-driven performance metrics, trend reports, and day-over-day annual comparison mapping.
The Director is responsible for managing the data housed in the student CRM (Slate) and other data systems that stretches from the recruitment of students, through the admissions process, merit scholarships and financial aid packaging, and student matriculation. This responsibility includes managing the CRM (Slate), receipt and processing of application materials, managing student and partner data, and awarding and recording merit-based resources. The position also assists with communication strategies and related contact with prospective students, families, and mentors. The Senior Associate Director is responsible for maintaining the Slate CRM solution used in the Office of Admissions and securing the data stored within the CRM for compliance with state and federal policies. This responsibility will require collaboration with IT colleagues to determine how best to provide and distribute information to appropriate constituencies, including updates and training on best-practice procedures, to ensure that counseling staff have the tools necessary to facilitate the highest degree of customer service to achieve annual enrollment targets.
The Director serves in a lead capacity with 3rd party data integration partners with the Office of Admission. This position serves as the primary individual responsible for timely and accurate data analysis and distribution relative to enrollment and retention to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Admission and Financial Aid and University Leadership.
The Director serves as the manager of the paperless work environment inside the Office of Admission. This position establishes and maintains an environment of expedited processing with high accuracy. This position prioritizes national and statewide best-practice to effectively drive our internal processing, focusing on speed, accuracy, and compliance with state and federal policies that govern admission and financial aid protocols.
The Director also serves as the primary liaison with Institutional Research and Effectiveness Planning and ITS to ensure that the data provided to others, both on-campus colleagues and off-campus partners or surveys, is accurate.
The Director leads, supervises, and develops the Admissions Operations team. They are responsible for aligning all admissions operations to comply with all institutional, System, state, and federal policies and regulations.

Required Education/Experience/Skills
Master's degree from an appropriately accredited institution. May also consider a Bachelor's degree and equivalent training and experience.

Experience in data management and analysis within a CRM (preferably Slate).

Five years of admissions experience, preferably in higher education. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a high-paced environment with diverse populations.
Preferred Education/Experience/Skills

  • Master's degree in Education or related field.
  • Prior experience in a management level position in Admission or Enrollment Services is preferred.
  • Proven track record as an Admissions recruiter in higher education.
  • Prior experience achieving goals related to diversity of the student population.
  • Prior experience in reporting and statistical analysis of data. Ability to travel.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • In-depth knowledge of admissions operations, with general knowledge of higher education administration and governance.
  • Ability to work effectively with high school students, parents, mentors, and high school counselors, as well as current transfer students from other colleges and universities or professional partners employed at those institutions.
  • Excellent public speaking skills and ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of constituents.
  • Strong knowledge of the goals and objectives of a liberal arts education and the University's overall mission.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with students, faculty and staff at the University.
  • Excellent planning, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to effectively supervise and mentor others.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
