This is a 1 year limited term appointment. Continuation of employment is contingent upon availability of funds.
The College of Veterinary Medicine at Auburn University seeks applicants for a
Research Assistant position! The selected candidate will assist researchers in planning, maintaining or completing research programs and/or projects involved in the discovery of new knowledge, techniques, and concepts which require fundamental scientific/research knowledge, skills and abilities following relevant policies, procedures, regulations and laws.

Essential Functions |
- The individual in this position is responsible for the clean and efficient operation of plasmapheresis equipment (including maintenance) to harvest plasma from horses to be used in the production of human botulinum antitoxin.
- The focus of the position is to exercise control of the collection, processing, storage and distribution of plasma.
- Professional training will be required and furnished as necessary for the competent performance of their assigned functions to ensure that the final product has the safety, purity, potency, identity and effectiveness to be used to manufacture a therapeutic human botulinum antitoxin.
- Facilities provided for the collection of plasma will be maintained in a clean, orderly manner by this person so the withdrawal of blood from equine donors can be performed with minimal risk of contamination.
- The storage and quarantine of the finished product will be handled by this person as well as the other members of the research team in the GMP section. Additional duties include monitoring horses during pheresis, post production processing, handling and shipment of plasma.

We are hiring for Research Assistant levels I-IV, based on experience and education.
Level I - Bachelor's degree in a discipline appropriate to the position and no experience.
Level II - Bachelor's degree in a discipline appropriate to the position and 2 years of experience in research practices and protocols.
Level III - Bachelor's degree in a discipline appropriate to the position plus 4 years of experience in research practices and protocols.
Level IV - Bachelor's degree in a discipline appropriate to the position plus 6 years of experience in research practices and protocols.
Advanced degrees may substitute for experience. |
Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications

- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- The candidate selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.
