POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to and functioning under the general supervision of the Supervisor, the Molecular ImagingCoordinator, is responsible for oversight of the daily operations. The coordinator provides patient care, and facilitates workflow and triaging of patients in the department. Additionally, he/she prepares for and operates gamma cameras and PET/CT scanner(s) and administers radiopharmaceuticals following specific physician orders. Produces detailed computer-generated scans of patients for diagnostic and therapeutic use. Assists patients onto camera/scanner, verifies patient identification prior to scan, selects patient from work list, ensures exam is archived on the PACS and completed properly in the RIS. Maintains facilities in proper order. Must keep abreast of all new Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT procedures. EDUCATION: Completion from an accredited Nuclear Medicine program and registered in Nuclear Medicine by the ARRT and /or NMTCB. Certification in CT through the NMTCB. EXPERIENCE: Three to five years' experience as a Nuclear Medicine technologist and proficiency in performing all procedures pertinent to area of responsibility. Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience preferred. SPECIAL SKILLS: Registered in Nuclear Medicine Technology with certification from the ARRT and/or NMTCB. Current and valid license from the State of NJ DEP. Current CPR certification thru the American Heart Association. Physical dexterity to operate sensitive equipment and ability to perform a variety of nuclear Medicine and PET/CT exams on patients. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and vascular systems. Excellent interpersonal communication (oral, written, presentation) skills. Ability to perform tasks accurately with attention to detail, changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. Ability to function independently and competently in stressful situations. Responds positively to changes in the work environment and has ability to work well in various settings, adjusting according to patient needs. Ability to work cooperatively within the health-system, and with patients, family members, co-workers, and multidisciplinary team members (i.e., physicians, Patient Care Services staff members, etc.). Ability to utilize effective time management to set priorities, perform job related responsibilities, and respond quickly to emergency situations. Ability to use analytical and critical thinking skills to effectively problem-solve. Requires weekend and on call hours.
