Department: Enterprise Analytics Reports to: SVP, Chief Data Analytics Officer Status: Non-Exempt Grade: 3 Salary Range: $15.00 - $24.19 Actual compensation within the pay range will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location. Location: Hybrid within MA Duration: Up to 12 weeks May - Aug Non-benefits eligible Purpose/Objective: As we expand our digital and data-driven capabilities, we are seeking a motivated Data Science Intern to join our Enterprise Analytics team. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in applying data science techniques in the banking industry while working with real-world financial data. As a Data Science Intern, you will work closely with our analytics team to extract insights from data, build predictive models, and support data-driven decision-making. You will contribute to ongoing projects related to customer segmentation, risk analysis, and operational efficiency. This internship will provide exposure to key banking data sets, business problems, and analytics tools in a real-world financial setting. Key Accountabilities: * Assist in data collection, cleaning, and exploratory data analysis (EDA) to identify trends and patterns. * Develop and test predictive models using machine learning techniques. * Support the development of dashboards and reports using Power BI, Python, and SQL. * Work with structured and unstructured banking data to derive actionable insights. * Collaborate with business teams to understand their data needs and provide analytical support. * Document findings, methodologies, and best practices for internal reference. * Research industry trends in data science and AI applications for banking. * Ensures compliance with all banking laws, rules, regulations, and prescribed policies/practices/procedures necessary to reduce risk and uphold ethical standards related to and required by one's duties. Education: * Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or a related field Experience: * Experience with machine learning frameworks (Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) preferred * Exposure to cloud platforms such as Snowflake, AWS, or Azure preferred Skills & Knowledge: * Basic understanding of Python and SQL for data analysis * Knowledge of data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar) * Strong problem-solving and analytical skills * Ability to communicate complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders * Eagerness to learn and work in a fast-paced banking environment * Familiarity with financial services, banking data, or regulatory considerations preferred Berkshire Bank is an Equal Opportunity Employer - all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or national origin.
