Starting Salary Range: $93,000.00 - $110,000.00 - position is also eligible for an annual bonus if individual performance and company objectives are met.

Our Forward Market Solutions Engineer II will work collaboratively with a diverse team building and supporting tactical solutions to complex challenges facing forward energy markets. This position works in collaboration with engineers, operators, analysts, and data scientists within Market Operations to develop user-interactive applications while providing capabilities for user-developed tools along with deep data analytics. You will have the opportunity to understand and improve congestion management practices, leverage increased data visibility and predictive risk management to improve the alignment of Forward Market assumptions (topology, expected congestion, external modeling) with actual outcomes.

You will work with a team of experienced Power System professionals who collaborate and partner together on challenging complex problems. You will also be able to collaborate cross-functionally as well as dive deep into data analytics for efficient market outcomes. The tools and analysis developed by this team add value to MISO's day-time and operations staff by enhancing awareness and decision making with the mission of optimizing markets, reducing risk, and delivering value.

As a Forward Market Solutions Engineer II, you will have the opportunity to create a large impact on MISO's forward markets. You will have the opportunity to:



  • Collaborate with FMS team to develop sustainable tools aiding market operations, including visualizations for dashboards and applications.
  • Lead and perform power flow analysis and market simulation (SCUC/SCED) to aid and improve forward market processes and market efficiency.
  • Work closely with business groups to define application enhancements and requirements, ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives.


In one year as a Forward Market Solutions Engineer II, you will know you're successful if:



  • You successfully collaborated with FMS and cross-functional teams to drive efficient Forward Market outcomes (Financial Transmission Rights, Day-Ahead Market, and Unit Commitment).
  • You supported transformation and development of processes and technology improvements that move the business toward meeting Operations of the Future and MISO's Reliability Imperative.


We are looking for hardworking professionals who have:



  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or Electrical and Electronic Engineering
  • Two or more years of relevant work experience
  • Specific experience with the following: Powerflow, Production Cost Modeling
  • Specific experience with engineering software: PROBE, PROMOD, PLEXOS, TARA, PSS/e
  • Previous energy industry experience


We would also prefer candidates with the following:



  • Specific experience with the following: Python, SQL Git
  • NERC certification
  • At least two years of data management, market analysis, planning, or settlements experience


Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.
