About the role We are looking for a Fixed Plant Operations Managerto be based near Boron, California. The Operations Manager is a strategic member of the leadership team and will play a significant part in the delivery of the Borates production plans and strategy. This role is a great opportunity for an experienced professional interested in leading a complex but rewarding part of the Boron operation. The Operations Manager will use well-developed leadership skills to guide and support the fixed plant operations teams, ensuring they are set up for success in delivering safe and stable performance. Reporting to the Rio Tinto California Operations General Manager, you will:
- Lead the fixed plant operations teams to deliver the business production plans in a safe and reliable way
- Display genuine curiosity and willingness to engage employees on topics of safety and wellness and efficiency
- Engage and build relationships across multiple layers of an organization from management to front line leaders, technicians, operators and commercial teams
- Provide strategic direction and leadership to ensure operational strategy is focused on and achieves organizational objectives
- Champion and support continuous improvement and safety leadership programs and processes
About you To be successfully considered for this role, the following are preferred:
- Have a deep commitment and passion for developing people and keeping them safe.
- Have hands on knowledge and experience with production, commercial and value chain operations
- Demonstrated knowledge of operational and continuous improvement strategies.
- Ability to work constructively with business partners to achieve operational outcomes.
- Ability to lead large teams and deliver through others.
- Able to engage authentically in success and failure
- Leadership experience within chemical, fixed plant, or shipping operations
- Related degree qualification in engineering, finance or equivalent preferred
